So, you are still interested in adopting a Labrador?
Stage 1:
You need to complete an Adoption Form. This form will tell us about you, your family and your home along with your preferences regarding the type and age of dog you are looking for. Please be honest when completing the form and ensure all questions are answered fully.

Stage 2:
Once you have had an email cofirming your application acceptance we will call you for a further chat or email
Stage 3:
If, having completed your application and informal chat, you are still keen to adopt a Labrador and our co-ordinators are satisfied that a Labrador is the right choice for you, a home check will be arranged and, if you have previously owned a dog, a Vet reference may be requested. Dont worry - the homecheck doesn't require that you wash all the net curtains - again its a case of making sure your home environment is suitable for a Labrador. You may also find this another useful opportunity to chat to the person carrying out the home check - they will have experience of Labradors which may help you during the settling in period.
If you have already adopted or fostered a dog from us a home check may not be required.
Stage 4:
Once your homecheck has been completed you will be placed on our waiting list. From this point on, you should visit our website on a daily basis - during busy periods, the rescue quite often receives new dogs every day. It is worth noting that not all dogs are shown on the Website. It may be that we have someone on our waiting list who would be ideal for a dog and they will be contacted directly. If you do see a dog on the site that you would like to consider adopting contact us immediately, either by phone (landlines only please due to cost of return call) or email. You will be given all history of the dog that has been made available to us and can discuss any concerns and ask as many questions as you need.
Stage 5:
Nearly there now! You will be invited to meet your chosen dog when you will have some time to see how you react to each other. If you already have another pet or children, we would like to see how everyone interacts together before the final comittement is made and you take home the new member of your family.
After the Adoption:
Be prepared for a period of settling in. The new member of your family will need time to adjust in just the same way that you do. This can range from a few days to a few weeks and will vary from dog to dog. If you are having problems please do not assume things will not settle down as this is rarely the case.
Please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss any issues you have. You can also use our forums to ask existing members for advice, ask questions, share your frustrations or simply have a laugh at some of the funny things your new family member will do!
Remember - we have all been where you are now - we are all here to help and support you and your pet through this period of adjustment and we will all have many stories and experiences to share with you. It is also worth mentioning here that providing a new forever home to a Labrador who has fallen on hard times is probably one of the most rewarding things you will ever do.
