Many of you have asked what happens once you have filled in the application form, you will get an email from one of the rescue team asking you to contact us so we can go through your application form and answer any questions you may have.

We like to "Fit" the dog into its new home so it will settle in sooner and the chance of it being returned to rescue are nil.
We are experiencing a high volume of applications at the moment , so the more information put on your form helps us to find the right dog for you.We are all volunteers so it may take us up to a week for us to get to your application.
There is a box at the bottom of the form for you to add as much or as little as you like.

Please remember by filling an an application form you are registering an interest to adopt, it does not automatically put you onto our waiting list, we like to speak to people direct, and to get to know your lifestyle, and experience, and also what kind of labrador you are looking for, some will come in that need a lot of training (especially the young ones) others are gentle and will settle into a new home easily.

Once you have filled in an application form, then you will receive an "Auto Reply" our website Your form will then be received by us at the rescue for processing.

You will then receive an email from us asking you to call us between the hours of 11am to 7 pm so we can go through your form with you,and answer any questions you may have about adopting please leave a message if it’s the answer phone and use one contact volunteer only .please leave a landline number if possible.

We receive many applications (at busy times as many as 15-20 per week, but more in the Summer months,) we will keep your details on file for 4 weeks to allow you to make contact if in that time we don’t hear from you we will assume that you have changed your mind about adopting and remove your details from our files.

Please do not assume that by filling in an application form that you are on our waiting list,we like to speak to you first, as this helps us to find the best dog to suit your experience as some dogs come in that will settle easily, others can be very hard work and need a lot of training and will need an experienced owner. Also a homecheck or a vet reference will need to be done prior to you adopting, so if you dont wish any of these to be done , please dont apply to this rescue, as this is part of our criteria of adopting.

Many of the dogs we rehome are from families where they are being left for long periods due to work commitments.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WE DO NOT REHOME TO
Families where both adults are WORKING FULL TIME. We do not expect the dog to be left alone for longer than 4 hours per day maximum. We do not consider a small lunch time visit, neighbours popping in, or a dog walker sufficient, as this is why so many of our dogs come into rescue, the Labrador is a people dog and loves company

Please note that we do not rehome dogs with families that have children under the age of five, or if children under 5 who come into regular contact with the dog such as grandchildren or who will leave the dog alone for more than 4 hours. You also need to be over 25

We are all volunteers with jobs, families, and dogs of our own to look after,so please be patient with us, we are only a small organisation and hold 6 kennels so only accommodate this many dogs at any one time. The rescue kennels are not a Visitor Centre this is a family home as well so please make sure you have an appointment before calling to the house.
We make appointments between 12 noon and 5 pm,and take calls between 11am - 7pm.
The rescue is closed Wednesday.

If you need any further assistance if adopting please call one of the team and we will help if we can.

Please feel free to contact us on the following numbers:

Kathryn: 01257 451143 or 07971404665 (11am - 7pm)
Carol: 07896 421148 (11am-7pm.)
