Our beautiful Bailey has gone

Post by JennyC »

Sad news - when we woke up on Christmas morning Bailey was very unwell, not moving from his bed and very shallow breathing. He had surgery on his foot in October which turned out to be melanoma and we had been warned that it could spread to the lungs. He had been quite well but with a cough in the mornings but suddenly it had become so bad. We took him to the vet and the decision was taken to let him rest. It all happened so quickly but very peacefully. We are so grateful that we had him, he was a beautiful chocolate, wonderful coat and loving nature. Alfie seems to be coping without him - how do we know? - but he has been a worry too as he has had to come off Loxicom which made him very poorly - he was on I/V fluids for 48 hours because of dehydration a few weeks ago.

Christmas is not a good time for our dogs - our previous black Lab, Potter, had a heart attack on Christmas Day and died a few weeks later.

Hope you all had a good Christmas! We did in parts as we had our son, daughter-in-law and delightful 4 year old grand-daughter with us.

Love to you all and your Labs!
Jenny, Alfie and Bailey (and Dad!)
