Another poem for Lloyd.

When I first joined this site I had just lost Lloyd our 13 1/2 year old special boy, and I posted a poem on here for him,
I also started another poem at the time but never got around to finishing it - until tonight. I know it might not be perfect, but I thought I would still share this new poem with you
Our Lloyd - What a character, what a dog
loving and kind, but sometimes odd.
It must be you our friends have said
something you do, the way they're led.
But it was always there we knew from the start
Which ones is ours we enquired on that first day
is it one of those gambolling away.
Of course not they replied - it's that one looking mad
Chewing the daffodil, getting told off by his dad
That's how we knew right from the start.
And so it continued throughout the years,
a love of macdonalds but a dislike of beers
flooding the garden, shooting off paths
getting surrounded by snails, a fuss when bathed
but we still loved him, as we had from the start.
Like most dogs he mellowed as time went by
but still had mad moments, that glint in his eye,
a cheeky smile that told you it was only in jest
or that special look when told he was the best
and we knew we had been loved too right from the start.
And as any of you who may have seen my more recent posts the madness seems to continue now with Max, except it has been multiplied by I don't know how many times.
Anyway the poem is really a tribute to the fun Lloyd bought to our lives and to remember how lucky we were to have had him in our lives.
