A Labradors Prayer By Maggie Moore.

As I lay me down to sleep
I Pray dear Lord don't let me keep
On getting in to all these scrapes
Like pulling down the living room drapes
It wasn't my fault the pulls just dangled
So I yanked and the drapes got tangled
Around my legs, around my head
So I pulled free and then I fled

And I I ran past the telephone table
My paw just happened to catch the cable
The phone then fell onto the floor
And followed me the living room door
Up the hall behind me clunked
The telephone was now defunked
No more its happy ringing chime
Would tell someone was on the line :)

Through the open front door I abscond
I forgot about the goldfish pond
Up to my neck in reeds and lilllies
Looked like I was wearing my mistresses frillies
Give a good shake and catch my breath
If I don't get dry I'll catch my death
Need somewhere warm, somewhere to lay
Up on the bed the soft duvet

The bedroom's quiet, but on the mat
Was marmalade , the ginger cat
Oh goodness me, how that cat can wail
But there again I was on his tail
I slept for while and was cosy and warm
But when I woke up I was in for a storm
The duvet was totally covered in mud
With my prints there I was stitched up for good

So as I lay me down to sleep
I pray dear Lord if you will please keep
Watch over me and heed my prayer
Please let me have just one day where
I wont have to watch where I put my paws
Where I wont, for change be in the wars

For one Day an Angel where I can revel
Then the rest of my days be a little Devil
