Dog with No Name

Dog with No Name

Who will take this dog with no name? Will anybody? it seems such a shame.
He seems very old to me, with cloudy eyes that struggle to see
They said they didn’t know who’s he was
That was a lie , you could tell because
He started after them when they walked out
he panicked not knowing what it was all about
They signed him in without backward glance
Who would give this old boy a chance?

Discarded ,maybe for a Christmas pup
I call to him, he looks up
Well lets go old fella and seal your fate!
I hesitate at the kennel gate
No Wait ! I‘ll take you home with me
Age is not on your side you see.

Who will take this dog with no name?
I will ! it seems such a shame

( Written For Tom old lab taken into Police station by owners who pretended he wasnt their dog  then to dog pound where he nearly was detroyed lived happily for 5 months with our family till we let him go dignity intact (see Toms story)

What a lovely poem Glenys, you are very talented. Poor old Tom, bless him, I can't believe that people would do such a thing......well I should say that I am learning that people can and will do such a thing, sadly I have had my eyes opened since I joined this site.

Sadly not written any poetry for some years now these are all old ones most of the poems were written from feelings within happy sad heartbroken etc... just words I wrote down and nearly always about my dogs or rescue ones though I did write one once for my Son  I keep finding more I must collect them on a file or something.
My Friend Maggie Moore is the best dog poet havent heard from her for a while but whilst my poems are mainly sad hers are sad and very funny so people dont get depressed reading her stuff :)

I have read quite a few of your poems Glenys and I must say you write from the heart. These should definitely be in a book! :) :) :)
