Recycled Dog (dedicated to dogs like Macey)

Postby Glenys » 11 Nov 2008, 17:53

I havent been moved to write a poem for ages but this ones written for dogs like you little Macey:

Recycled Dog:

My Special dog “hello” you are wonderful to know
I waited for you for quite some time
Now I can mend your heart, and you can mend mine.

I lost a dog you see and while I knew he needed me
I see that very clearly now he has gone, that need applied to me.

I remember days of happy but also days of sad
I remember him just being there, and all the fun we had.

A silent loyal trusting friend who stayed the course with me
Till his age and pain dictated that I had to set him free.

I happened on a friend of mine who heard of my sad news
A very tough old Lady with equally strong views
You must to get yourself another dog and very soon she says
You can always buy a pup but there are also other ways
And should you take a rescue dog you will be helping the planet more
As surely, to take an unwanted dog is recycling for sure.

So here you are my recycled dog, here to stem my tears
And by the same token I can sweep away your fears.
From this day we go forward and face the world anew
Me and My recycled dog with hearts forever true.

Glenys you are so talented, I have only just found this thread. The poem is brilliant I had tears in my eyes reading it.

It's just so true

My friend had to put her rescue dog to sleep last Thursday at the age of 14 and she's devastated. He was such a character! It's hard to know what to say to her. If you don't mind, I'll forward this poem to her. I've talked to her about Kizzy and the Rescue, but it will take time for her to come to a decision about replacing her friend.

If you think it will help her of cousre send it to her.

This one was written by a freind:

Yours Forever

I thought I saw my future Mum, she came and looked at me,
I knew she liked me very much 'cos it was plain to see.

I saw her tears, I heard her say her dearest friend had died.
She said she used to look like me and then she cried and cried.

I knew that I could help her, I knew we could be friends.
I would devote my life to her - I'd try to make amends
for all the hurt she's feeling, as every day goes by.
I never could replace her friend - I wouldn't even try.

Each one of us is different and we all need love and care.
Our lives are short, but don't be sad, just love us whilst we're there.

And just because I'm going to die in twelve or thirteen years,
Please don't deny a life for me 'cos you're afraid of tears.

Just love me and take care of me - enjoy our life together.
I'll give you so much in return for you to always treasure.

And when my life is over too, we none of us will part,
'cos we will all be curled up safe in a corner of your heart.
