Rehoming your dog

Post by LabRes1 »

There may be a time due to marriage breakup, financial changes, new baby or any other reason where you find yourself needing to find a new home for your dog.

If you find yourself in this situation, Labrador Rescue is here to help you.

We are more than happy to have an informal discussion with you where we go through our procedures, how we care for your dog while it is with us, how we work to find the right home for him/her and talk the problem through with you to help you make a more informed decision. These discussions are very informal, completely confidential and are intended to help you to either find an alternative solution, or put your mind at rest that your dog will be loved and well cared for.

We will, at no time, try to pressure you in any way - that is a decision only you can make.

We will ask you, once you have discussed this with us, to take a day or two (unless in a really urgent situation) to consider things carefully to ensure you have had the time you need to reach the right decision for your circumstances and as much as possible offer support.

Please think things through carefully - when you bring your dog to us, you will have to complete paperwork to sign over your dog to the rescue. Once this is done you will be unable to claim your dog back - we try not to keep a dog in our kennels any longer than absolutely necessary. Within a few hours your dog could be on its way to a new home so please take time to think about your decision before you bring him to the rescue a.

We will work very hard to find the perfect home for your dog and once rehomed, we do not have the power to remove your dog from its new family unless we have evidence the dog is being neglected or ill treated - something which is highly unlikely due to our selection procedure.
