Just booked a Hol at Pontins @prestatyn.
I emailed the local tourist office (See Below) for info for dog friendly beaches etc.
They supplied the info and also downloaded a dog leaflet"Can I come Too".
They can also supply a list of dog friendly accomadation.

hi playpen, just be aware that dogs are not allowed on the beach from may, during the summer period at prestatyn. there are signs on the beach front. dont want you to come unstuck as the police patrol regulary. jill n boo

Dogs are only banned on the central beach at Prestatyn during the summer months.
The beaches East and West are ok.

The beach to the East is called "Barkby"and is very (suitibley?) named for dogs.

Having said that, Taffy can go on the central beach because he is a Hearing dog, provided he wears his service jacket instead of his usual striped trunks. :

thanks for letting me know about Barkby beach, Boo would have probably lost out on a beach run if it was'nt for your post. hoping to get there again soon. thanks! jill n boo

Enjoy-talacre beach just round the corner is great for dogs- also most of the beaches appear to have a part for dogs just check the signs. enjoy- may see you around when we are searching for buddie

Going there first week in July.

Talacre is the best beach John. No restrictions at all. We usually walk beyond the old lighthouse to the Point of Ayr. THe beach is so wide when the tide is out and there are usually few people there. Buddie and Benj love it!

I have a few photos of talacre on Labrador Rescue 2010 Calendar » June, there are a few places to get a cup of tea etc there and miles of walking plus it is a nature reserve on the edges. Another good place if you are in Prestatyn, is Meliden Mountain, if you go through Meliden as if going to Rhuddlan, you will see a hiliday complex on your left- turn before there and go up a steep hill- used in the On The buses Film witH Reg Varney- at the top is a national trust car park- and you can walk on the mountain- views are fantastic, when leaving there going to (not sure how to spell it) Gwaenasger(I call it Go and Ask Her) and there is a fantastic viewing point on the steep hill that goes back into Prestatyn. Hope the weather is good and enjoy North Wales- Conway is a lovely place to visit and if you go off the A55 and turn towards the Marina, take the caravan park road and you can park there , the beach is ok for dogs there as well.

I always pronounced it as Gwen-es- co (right or wrong?).
