Dogs welcome at Loch Tummel

As we all have dogs and may want to take them with us... have you any suggestions for holdiay destinations etc that are dog friendly and where you had a great time?

Dogs welcome at Loch Tummel

Post by Nesslabs »

We're just back from a great week with Jack and Tess in a cottage at Loch Tummel near Pitlochry. Dogs are welcome provided they don't go into the bedroom or on to the furniture. There are two cottages each with a secure fenced garden.

This shows the cottages (and Penny the owner's house) from the other side of the loch.

There was plenty of scope for dog walks straight from the cottage door. Penny told us where to find an osprey's nest 5 minutes walk from the cottage on top of a pylon.

We saw two adult birds and a young one practising its flying skills before the parents leave for Africa.

The cottage was very comfortable and dog friendly with a large porch for leaving wet gear, boots and dog towels. We told Penny we would mention the cottages on this site. If you google Tummel Cottage or Farragon Cottage that takes you to her web site.

Okay here's the link:- http://www.cottageguide.co.uk/tummel/

Forgot to say Penny has a yellow and black lab herself and offered us a key to the loch field so Jack and Tess could have their own private beach for swimming in Loch Tummel!

Lovely cottage and fabulous pictures! Glad you all had a great time.

Went camping to Scotland forty-odd years ago and one of the many places we stayed was Tummel Bridge. Can remember skimming stones with my dad and brother.

Another recommendation here for Loch Tummel. We had Christmas week in the same cottage.

Lovely place to spend time and very dog friendly. Flipper and Newton had a great holiday. Although we had slightly different weather to Kathleen, and were definitely glad of the open fire.
