Re: Happy birthday John
Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes!
As Glenys said, it’s been a difficult year for me, but even more so for the dogs, Chloe particularly. They say the first few months are the most important for a puppy, particularly with socialising, and poor Chloe was almost never outside the gate during that time, so we are now well behind the 8 ball, but we’ll get there.
Hopefully things will improve this year, early signs are good so now it’s a question of wait and hope. Meanwhile I’ve started back into Chloe’s training, both working on her own and when Amy is around, as in the vid below. Chloe was just about a year old when I filmed that.

Love to you all, John

Doing well John. Blimey, you can throw that dummy some distance.

Re: Happy birthday John
In fact dummy throwing has never been my strong point. But that's not a problem because I use it as part of the stay exercise, leave them sitting in the stay while I walk out a fair distance, toss the dummy on further, walk back to my dogs then send whichever dog I choose.Blimey, you can throw that dummy some distance.
I need a really solid stay for when I leave the dogs while I feed the birds, or walk round trying to find where an electric fence is shorting out. A half an hour out of sight stay is not an unusual situation, and this is the lead up to it. An exercise I do is to find a big clump of bushes, sit the dogs up some way away, leave them and walk around the bushes out of sight of the dogs and drop a dummy. I can then go back and sent the dog to find it. So to the dog, me disappearing is not in any way frightening, rather the forerunner of the fun of another retrieve.

Re: Happy birthday John
Great to hear from you John and I am pleased you doing ok after a difficult year. The girls are looking good loved the three card trick video and the steadiness one, they are so good. My girls would do that for a while until Maggie my chocolate one decides she is doing what she wants and then ruins it all......typical chocolate!!
Anyway you take care of yourself, sending lots of healing thoughts and hugs to you and I hope this year bring better things.
