We're very sad to tell you we had to put our dear old Chester down nearly 4 weeks ago now. We got him from you as a very lively 11month old. In the early months we sometimes wondered if he had been the right choice. But he was our handful and we loved him. He was a bit hyper but always loved everyone and life. We miss him so so much

He'd lost his sight increasingly over the last few years but adjusted well and learned new instructions 'step up' etc very quickly. But over the last year His back end had gone very weak, he'd lost bowl control but still seemed happy once up on his feet, he had renal problems too, cost us a fortune at the vets and with special dog food got online.

However he got to the point the last day or two he couldn't get up on his own even on the carpet. He'd been like that on the wood floor for a few months. Amazingly even then he was still up for life once lifted onto his legs, still wanted to be with us and still loved his food, but I'm not around all of every day to pick him up. We agreed with the vet there was no more that could be done, at least he hadn't gone through getting depressed about his situation, he wasn't that sort of old fellow.

We have so many great memories, he grew up with our now 18 year old son, and we used to call them brothers. And as they both grew up became great mates. Though he sort of remained a mummy's boy too coming in to let me know first if one of the others was taking him out. His got-you date was last week, he would have been about 14. I know the pain will never completely go, I can still feel that for Geeta a NCDL lab cross we had had to lose before him, but when it reduces we'll start a new with another rescue dog. I can't work out how to put photo on. He was a tall light yellow lab type poss golden retriever cross or who knows, He was a head turner, who'd get remarked on as we'd pass by. We kept him slim despite his best efforts to eat anything as the vet did say right from the start he could get problem.

Good bye to a dear old friend. Cath

I should have said the vet didn't think our old boy Chester was in much pain, it was more some sort of nerve degeneration, made him rather wobbly but at least not in pain. Cathy
