Hi Just trying to add a picture of Fergie to the site, have posted loads on the FB page but not on here before, so bear with me.
An update on Fergie, the boy is gorgeous, he is settling well, we brought him home on 9 December and we feel like he has been here forever. He is an absolute gentleman indoors, he does not graze the sides, chew, pinch or anything else, he is clean and just gorgeous.
For the first few nights he barked constantly and even though we tried to settle him he was having none of it. We had made his bed in our utility room with the door closed, as this is the room where our other labs had lived - our dogs room. However, Fergie did not like it in there at all and so we laid his bed down in the kitchen and he settled and no more barking at all.
He is still strong on the lead but improving, we use a slip lead and a whistle, which works well. He needs socialising and we need to find more people who don't mind their dogs being bowled over to meet us. Fergie is great off the lead, providing there is nothing to chase of course. He managed to sit whilst a flock of sheep walked by in the yard the other day, with a few sharp whistles from me. He usually ignores the cows, but something spooked him the other day and he jumped at them. He was fine today though. We are planning to take him to 1:1 training sessions to help us with his training on the lead and meeting other dogs and then hopefully, we will do some class training. I have to thank Christine Winder for inviting us to her house a few weeks ago when she gave us some great tips and let Fergie loose with her gorgeous lab. They ended up scrapping but it was something that needed to be done, they settled easily afterwards though. So I am hoping that he is not too aggressive with other dogs. I so want him to be friendly.
So that is about it really - as I say he is gorgeous and we cannot thank Glenys and Abi enough for letting us bring him home.

Lovely update. Fergie will get there given time and your special brand of TLC :love2:
Sadly the photo hasn't worked and there isn't an image there for me to capture (I did have a go). If you have pics on FB then feel free to tag me on the LRNW page - Joanna Le Put - and I'll happily add pics to your posts.
Any squabbles often sound worse than they are and can be over relatively quickly. If Fergie hasn't been socialised he's probably just unaware of the boundaries, but he'll learn. He's a lucky chap to have found you xx

Sounds like Fergie has settled very well. I tried to post the photos from the Photobucket profile too but unfortunately there are no uploads - sometimes photobucket does play up!

Keep up the good work and hopefully Joanna will post some photos on here when she gets a minute bless her - she is becoming our FB liaison person!

Thanks folks - I am sorry that the pics didn't work - I wonder if I have the wrong settings on photobucket - will check and see - as it worked for me last night when I uploaded them, so I know it does work - but happy for Willow to put any of my pics off FB onto here. We have had a lovely walk with Fergie today - he is so much better and far more attentive, we even had him coming back to the whistle when he was busy nosing in some bushes - not every time but getting there. Then he sat down next to us and watched the world go by, each time he got up we asked him to sit down again, and hey presto... he did!! We need to get out and about in a crowd again and socialise with other dogs but time will tell.

Thanks for your support, and Glenys, thanks for this lovely boy xx

I have just changed my settings on Potobucket to public - so can somebody try and see if it has worked - it worked for me - the first one says it has been removed but if you click either way it works - or, as I say, it did for me. Anyway if you can let me know that would be great! Thanks

Lovely update and great photos. Fergie looks like a real gorgeous soppy lab who just needs the right direction, you'll soon get him used to what you expect of him.

Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures with him.

Fabulous piccys.

You know, it sometimes takes a dog to teach a dog. One or two scrapes and they usually learn how to behave around others. Good luck, it will be worth it in the end.
