I've not been inspired to write a poem for years but things happen to make you remember with love in a heartfelt moment and so many sad little notes , cards and emails of people losing a much loved dog ............ it arrived.
There's a place where like to go
That No one else can see
It's a place that's very quiet
And I can be just me
It's a place that holds old memories
Of times gone by
Some are very happy
Some will make me cry
A place to remember beloved dogs
And precious moments shared
It is a place where we can grieve for them
And remember how much we cared
For every precious moment
And true loyalty shown
One day a naughty youngster
Seems the next he is full grown
The years passed by so quickly
Why can't the years stand still ?
Then the day you have say goodbye
You loved him then.... you love him still
One thing you know for sure
Even through grief and pain
You never could have loved him more
You will do it all again
Another dog will come along
And fill that special space
And once again your home becomes
A really happy place
So it's ok to visit
The place you wish go
To conjure up some moments
From precious long ago .
Somewhere your friend waits for you
and he wants you to know
Its ok to love another dog
He wants to tell you so
The past dogs they watch over you
And they give a happy sigh
Waiting for you patiently
From their home beyond the sky.
