A poem for Lloyd

We recently lost our 13 1/2 year old chocolate labrador, and I wrote this poem for him.
To understand it you have to know we bought him when we lived in New Zealand, then all moved to Australia when he was six and then bought him home to Wales when he was eleven.
What did you think that bright summers day
when we came and took you from the only home you had known.
Were you worried and afraid of the future
no you just trusted us to take you on adventures few can Dream of.
We went a wandering all over that far land of your birth
to Mountains high and thermal parks, to beaches of golden sand.
Were you worried, afraid to try new things
no you just trusted us to take you on adventures new and bold.
We all boarded a plane to a new home over the sea
to a new land of strange creatures and sights not seen before
Were you worried, no just took it in your stride
because you trusted us to guide you and always be by your side.
Finally we took the greatest journey half way round the world
To more mountains and snow, new friends and a house in the hills.
Were you worried, no by then adventuring was in your blood
and you trusted and loved us till the sun finally set.
To understand it you have to know we bought him when we lived in New Zealand, then all moved to Australia when he was six and then bought him home to Wales when he was eleven.
