Beautiful photo's Martin of the lovely Billy, he is so adorable. I love the puppy ones too, he looked quite a big lad!

I didn't realise you can take dogs on the ferry for the Isle of Skye is this the passenger ferry or is it one you can take your cars on? We quite fancy a Scottish Island tour so if you have any ferry trips I would be most grateful!

Hi Jackie

You can take dogs on all the Cal Mac ferries - passenger and car - only problem is you either have to leave them in the car or sit on the decks with them - which is great if the weather's fine! The Skye ferry from Mallaig isn't too bad though because it only takes about 25 minutes.

Julie

PS When were you there Martin?

Hi Jackie,
What we did was drove over the new Skye Bridge, toured the island and then got the ferry back just for the fun of it. The ferries to most of the islands carry cars people and dogs, we didn't have any problems regarding taking Billy anywhere. We stayed in a cottage near Fort William and toured the west coast and western islands from there. You just have to be careful of the times of 'last ferry sailings' in case you get stranded !!
Wonderful holiday...a long drive for us, but well worth it. Hadn't been up there for many years. If you get chance you must take the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig (and return) dogs are allowed on there too...it's a world famous railway journey and the scenery is absolutely stunning.

We were there in 2006 !

Thank you Julie and Martin, that is really worth knowing - I always thought that the dogs had to stay in the cars, which is ok on a short trip but no so nice for them on a longer one. I am happy to sit on deck come rain or shine if it means the girls can sit with us :D

Sorry Martin, this is your Billy's thread so I won't go on!
