I know we're all concerned for Norrie, but Glenys is right, she or Ky would have said if anything bad had happened. Ky and Geoff work really hard and have a huge amount to do every day, so they probably don't always have time for the forum even when we're hoping for news.

"No news is good news"? - let's hope so.

Latest update on Norrie ……………….

So many of you are asking about Norrie so here is the current update.

We have had a brief update from Norries foster carer Ky today. The feedback is as follows:

“Still waiting for results of biopsies ( delayed because of Easter break) and hopefully all stitches out tomorrow”.

Having not had a recent update and before receiving the above email we made contact directly with the Vets, the report was he had undergone muscle biopsies last week and results are delayed due to bank holidays.

Whilst we have never had any issue with the Vet currently dealing with Norrie or special care and kindness given to him I feel I have to say I did feel that a muscle biopsy was not the best way forward and voiced an opinion that I wasn’t really happy for this procedure to go ahead. I did not think this will give an answer to why he goes off his food and loses weight rapidly, almost like anorexia but we will have to see what those findings are. I am at a loss to know what they will find if anything, but that is my opinion and others may differ.

I also know that a team of Vets and Nurses which are following Norrie’s story on here and we would be happy for any feedback or further advice or similar experience in this type of problem.

As a small rescue we do what we can to help any Labrador that we are contacted about. We often take dogs in that need treatment or specialist care and give them every opportunity of a future and a quality of life. We do however, have a responsibility to our supporters, to use any donations the rescue receives carefully and responsibly and within our means.

When we are dealing with a sick dog, we do everything within reason to help that dog and to resolve any problems. We seek advice from our vets and experts and where necessary send the dog for specialist evaluation. Any decisions we make are always in the best interest of the dog and guided by specialists. We also discuss everything carefully before any decisions are made to be absolutely sure we make the correct ones. Always in any such a situation we have been inclined to seek a referral to our specialist vets, Rutland House.

Therefore In the absence of any conclusive diagnosis coming from the recent biopsies we will then formally request that Norrie be referred to Rutland House and following their assessment make a further report.

Thank you to those who have donated towards Norrie total spend so far is £1417.60 - anyone who wants a detailed breakdown of the costings, please contact me directly.

Thank you for the update Glenys. Rutland House have a very good reputation, and were superb with dealing with Jess and her eyes. There may just be something that one of their specialists may hit on, which will provide the answer - absolutely worth a referral - nothing to lose.

Meanwhile - behind Norrie in every way and willing him to get through this time. xxx

Reading the latest update about Norrie makes me realise what incredibly difficult decisions Glenys and her team sometimes have to make.

Glenys

We fully support you and think a referral to a specialist would be the best way forward. Not all vets know the answers just like doctors, which is why there are people and vet specialists. Norrie needs some answers.

Glenys

Thanks for the update and fully support your decision that Norrie should now be referred to a specialist if these recent tests are inconclusive.

Hang in there little man hopefully with the help of Rutland House they will get to the root of your problem :love2: :love2:

Saw Norrie today. He is looking a lot better than when I last saw him close up, with more fat covering his ribs now. But still thin around his back end. He is playing very gently with Wotsee his best friend and Mij. They are both brilliant with him. I watched his creep up behind Mij who was in Norries big comfy bed and nick his ball!!! He has had some tests on his muscles but they aren't back yet. The scars are very neat (wish my op scars were as good as his!). That's all I know - except to say he is such a loving boy, brings you his ball and sits gazing at you with a big grin! I know there are worries about his muscles though so fingers and paws crossed here for dear Norrie. :love2:
