Ellie supported dog

Post by janie1 »

Ellie had a check up at the vets this morning and her ears are much the same. Still some inflammation but we are going to try scaling down her steroids to one very other day in a weeks time. Also her antibiotic ear drops are going to be scaled down so eventually she will have just ear wash. That is the plan. She will need surgery in the future but they will do one ear at a time so she won't go deaf overnight. The polyps will never go away and will always give her problems. It's just a case of managing those problems.
She has lost weight this week but only 0.1kg. Strange as she has had several big walks this week. Maybe I need to look at treats that are creeping in ! It has been xmas after all.

Hope Ellie's ears continue to respond to the treatment.
And any weight loss over Xmas is a miracle in itself - we haven't dared step on the scales!!

We also have a Lab with ear issues so know what you're going through. We tend to just give them a regular wipe around now just using cooled, boiled water and only use the stronger meds if he has a flare-up. Fingers crossed that they are less frequent, he has had a good run lately.

Well done Ellie. Strictly no treats for a while and the lbs will come rolling off xx

Thanks guys for your lovely comments. She goes back to the vets in 2 weeks so will do another update then. She has bonded really well with me and cuddles up such a lot. She really melts my heart. My son went back to uni today (exams soon ) so for the first time it's just the two of us. We have come along way in 2 weeks. But I think she sees me as her mum .

Ellie has well and truly landed on all four paws.

I hope her ears don't give her too much trouble and they get better soon. xx
