Rosie's first Gotcha Day-20 November

Post by Juze66 »

I can't believe a whole year is almost up when at times the months seemed to be passing extremely slowly. It's been a full on year with our Rosie and there's plenty more to come from her, I'm sure.

We first decided to get a rescue lab because our one yr old Dizzie with hip and elbow problems was in need of a friend to keep her exercising and on the go. We were already shelling out for hydrotherapy but someone suggested that a second dog would also help her to stay fit and strong.

At 9 months old, Rosie was perhaps a little bit younger than we had planned, but when we saw those gorgeous Choc lab eyes we were smitten, and so was Dizzie. They loved each other from the outset, sleeping together, playing and fighting at every chance. Rosie was soon down from her 35kg to much healthier 25 kg weight!

One year on and I'm proud to report that with Rosie and hydrotherapy, Dizzie is a much stronger and happier dog, as she trots along with barely a sign of her hip dysplasia, her muscles are so strong now. A sight I had only dreamed of previously.

As for our Rosie, she has turned out to be a real character, one of those loveable rogues that you realise may never grow up! The list of items eaten, chewed, lost etc is so long that I wouldn't know where to start. Safe to say that my friends are desperate for me to write my own version of Marley. She has given us many frustrations over the past 12 months, but also so many more moments of pure joy and love that I know I will be forever grateful to Abi and Labrador Rescue for bringing us together.

Rosie sounds like fun and that first picture is just gorgeous, those eyes! I'm really pleased she's helped Dizzie too, they look inseperable now.
