Rest In Peace, Jack

On Saturday evening Jack and I parted company as he was put to sleep after a day when he was obviously in a lot of pain from his hip joints and was unable to lie down. He'd been on Metacam for quite some time and a high dose of Tramadol so any further pain relief was out of the question. I knew by the way he looked at me that he'd just had enough.
Jack came shortly before my wife died from cancer and what could have been very dark days were lightened by his happy, lively personality and I was to make a lot of new friends through him. We were very rarely apart from each other and took a lot of pleasure from each other's company. If I lost my temper over anything Jack would bring me one of his soft toys as if to say "It's OK, I'm here."

Two videos here of Jack in his prime and enjoying life to the full...........................

Lovely videos - we have a collection of 'special' stones in our garden which our departed boys Sam and Ben 'fished' out of streams all over Scotland.

Sorry to hear of your loss. We know how you must feel having lost our chocolate lab Bruno back in March. Hope you can take comfort in the good memories you have of Jack and that in time maybe consider taking on a rescue dog as many of us on this forum have done. (Hence the labrador3 in our case).
Take care mate and best wishes.

Dear Andrew, I'm really sorry to hear the sad news that you have lost your beloved Jack. He clearly had such a good life with you and lived it to the full. In the end, you made the most difficult but bravest decision, and allowed Jack to go with his dignity intact.
Thinking of you and sending you strength.

Run free, sweet Jack.
