THE GOOD SHIP LABRADOR pt II

Post by casper »

The Captain an first officer decide to take a detour down “Bramble Pass” just to be sure we don’t bump into Zach, as that’s quite enough excitement of that kind for one day. We where at “Coot Bay” in no time at all and as the princess is, NO princess she was first into it’s clean fresh cool waters with a huge splash! Sir Jake wasn’t quite so enthusiastic to enter the water, well as everyone knows there’s not a lot of cause for a knight to swim… The Captain and first officer tried there up most to encourage Sir Jake to swim but for know he was quite content wading in up to his chest. Princess Molly on the other hand was watching the commotion going on at the bank side and wondered if she could help?? Then she remembered that the Captain had thrown two balls into the bay. Eureka!! That’s it! The balls are the answer. As the princess is quite an accomplished swimmer she was soon out to the middle of the bay collecting one of the balls (after all a princess only has a small mouth). Heading back to shore at flank speed Princess Molly was soon approaching Sir Jake, he was so pleased to see her with one of the balls he quite forgot him self and braved the depths to escort Princess Molly into the shallows and back onto land. After giving the captain the ball to hold, Princess Molly was straight back into the Bay to collect the second ball assured in the knowledge that she had solved Sir Jakes swimming phobia, the captain must not of realised what he was doing when he throw them in the bay. Sir Jake just needed his balls back to help him swim.
As the Captain and first officer had not had the opportunity to join in with the swim, so the Princess and Sir Jake thought it only right they should help by shaking there coats to create shower for them, though they did not seem to appreciate this in quite the way they thought? In fact the first officer tried to run away but Sir Jake soon caught up with her, much to the first officers delight, well think she was happy it was hard to understand the words with her arms over her face like that??
Captain said it was time for shore leave, Yahooooo no safety harnesses !! as long as Princess Molly and Sir Jake stay in range of the Captains Fog horn! Sloe Lane is full of Blackthorn bushes and small trees, fantastic for hide and seek, Princess Molly’s favourite game as Sir Jake was finding out!!
O! and there goes the foghorn soon got to the end of the lane or has the Captain seen something. The captain had indeed, coming towards them was Brandy Barrel wide as he was long, Princess Molly had overheard a conversation with the first officer in the past about how Brandy Barrel was on a special “See Food Diet” but it can’t be working as he just stays the same size. “Fancy a swim Princess woofed Brandy”, No chance thought Princess Molly last time Brandy Barrel jumped in the lake I ended up surfing back to shore!! Luckily Brandy’s mum was in a rush so of Brandy Barrel waddled leaving the Good Ship Labrador to cruise around the west side of Swan Lake. Now, Swan Lake has quite a few residents and it seemed like most of them had come to say hello to Sir Jake Even “Crispy” the ornamental white duck along with The Resident Mr & Mrs Mute Swans with there 5 Children, why they are called “Mute” I’ll never know as they always have a lot to say!
Approaching “Meadow Marsh” now and look someone is there waiting to meet us….
Princess Molly was excited although she was royalty and could not covert with commoners she loved the chance meetings with NONE OTHER THAN Sgt SAM, of the “SDS” (Special Dog Squad). ATTENTION!! Royalty on deck! “at ease Sgt shouts Princess Molly as she picks up a stick for the Sgt knowing sticks are his Achilles Heel. The princess drops the stick in front of Sgt Sam who just can’t resist a good peace of willow. Unfortunately the exchange had not gone un-noticed and Sir Jake was not at all amused! How dare he take my lady’s stick before the captain could say Jack Daniels backwards Sir Jake was crashing into Sgt Sam!! Now although the SDS training is top secret it was a well known fact that Sgt Sam had Passed out top of his class as a Black belt in Palates and was more than a match for Sir Jakes old art of Origami. In the wink of an eye Sir Jake found himself making a soft landing on “Meadow Marsh” Slightly dazed and with the Captain hooking the safety harness back on, Sir Jake Stood up shaking himself down and wanting to know if the Sgt would like to try that one again! But as the captain had already intervened this would have to wait for another time. Princess Molly was quite impressed with Sir Jakes shivery, so after the goodbyes to Sgt Sam she cuddled up to Sir Jake for the journey back home through the soft grasses of “Meadow Marsh” wondering what adventures lay ahead.
