Tara/Hope - now Little Princess

Post by Gina B »

Hello all, I thought it was about time I gave you an update on Little Princess and also to share a recent "breakthrough"
You may recall she is deaf so I went on internet & worked hard at learning hand signals etc for deaf dogs - unfortunately Princess wouldnt do internet :( so ignores every signal - just sits down, wags her tail or lies down for a snooze - but I have found she does respond to a hand with food, or a lead, or a hand giving cuddles & tickles - Strange eh?
Now to swimming & the "Breakthrough" - her back legs are not great and coupled with her age/past life I thought swimming would be good for her, so she has been going for about 12 weeks but is very lazy and can be a stubborn old lady - I would have given up, but with the help, reassurance (FOR ME :1962: ) the perseverance & patience from Anne & Graham at the pool at Teazledown (known as Canine Therapies) Princess has this week - swum WITHOUT a line & retrieved her orange boot & brought it back to me :1954: So hopefully we can continue swimming & help her mobility for the future.
So that is her, boss dog, stubborn little madame, but always "My Little Princess" a gentle sweetheart who I love to bits :love5: , but please dont tell her, she may stop swimming!!!

Hi Gina
I`m so glad that your perseverence at the pool has finally paid off. I know you almost gave up on it a couple of times as Princess was none too keen but what a breakthrough!! She is such a sweetheart just like Tasha, but a little more feisty! Give her a kiss from me. :love4:

Ann and Graham at Teazledown are fantastic - Ann has been working with big ben for almost a year now. She is always there for advice and guidance and she has also worked wonders with Ben....
