Poppy the Wonder-pup

Post by Emma T »

Hi all

Tried to submit a post last night but when I did it said my account was aborted?? Anyway here goes!

Poppy is just the sweetest little lady, totally and utterly adorable :love2: , she is just such a bright happy little thing - an absolute credit to all the hard work Carol has put in, she has settled in like a dream. She is such a clever girl at learning toilet training and she is already playing fetch! Watching her run and pounce on her toys is just the cutest thing ever, her little wobbly legs and bottom!!

She has an extremely busy schedule that consists of snoozing, eating, playing and snuggling and I am her PA and manage the diary :1968: , currently she is fast asleep with Barney, whom she adores! I think we have tea then mischief next on the programme!

Barney was a little bit funny last night and ignored her, but today he has had a whale of a time playing with her and lets her curl up in his tummy now. I think he was just very tired from lots of hillwalking in the Yorkshire Dales and probably a tiny bit jealous (even though he has had all his usual attention and snugs) but he is fine now. I think they will be best of friends and she is determined that will be the case :love6: .

My parents are with us until tomorrow and my dad keeps cuddling her and thanking me for his puppy birthday present (he was 60 on Sat) so I will have to check he does not try to steal her when he goes! He adores dogs too and he says she is the most gorgeous little thing and has said too that Carol must have done an amazing job with them.

Pete was so fed up about having to go to work today, she sat on his lap all the way home and he is just totally in love with her (she was good as gold on the journey) and he did not want to leave her today. Mind you he hates leaving Barney everyday too! Doesn't miss me :1967:

So thank you so much to all the team, you have let us adopt two of the most perfect and adorable dogs imaginable and I think we are going to have the most fantastic times together. We are so lucky to have them with us :love5: :1972: :love2:

Ps the cats do not agree with the above statement :1968:. They have either hissed at her or hidden upstairs! They will come round in time :1945:

She sounds wonderful, Barney will grow to love her the cats will too I guess in time. No doubt she will chase them for a bit though cos they move! Looking forward to some pictures - you lucky people wish I had one!

Yes will get pics sorted! We are all loving her arrival, meant to say my mum was enjoying the full black lab experience, she was snoozing on the sofa as she needs lots of rests (she is poorly) and always feels the cold, so Poppy and Barney thoughtfully turned themselves in to lab hot waterbottles and have been cuddled up. The dogs are allowed on our scruffy old sofa in our dining room, but there was not room for my parents two spaniels so they were most unimpressed!

Great pupdate Emma. How lucky are you? You will have to make sure your dad doesn't sneak her inside his coat when he leaves. As for the cats, if they are anything like mine, they will go into hibernation for a couple of days until they realise Poppy is there to stay, and will eventually appear and stamp their mark on Poppy.

It only took one hiss at Molly when she realised that the cat was probably best left alone! The cat now very often walks under Molly's tummy, even when Molly is eating.

Have lots of fun with with them both for many years to come. Can't wait for the pics. :love5:

Sounds as if she's settled in already. They will soon be the best of friends, and when Poppy is bigger there will be lots of noisy rough and tumble!

Do what I do and always have your camera handy, then you won't miss any special gems. :1962:
Enjoy her, she'll soon grow up. :1961:

Love the update, so pleased she has settled in so well. Her name's lovely too. I would frisk your dad when he leaves, she's still tiny and he might not be able to leave her behind. Looking forward to photos. Enjoy her, she will grow up all too soon. :1954: :1961:
