Buddy the Gentleman
Buddy the Gentleman. (Bertie)
When this lady turned up at the kennels I thought she looked OK so I gave her a big lick! This obviously sealed the deal because I was soon jumping in the back of her Jeep. ( She did tell me that as I was 10 years old she would buy me a ramp if I needed it) Little did she know!!! Ramp? Jumping into the car is no problem as she found out when I showed her I could jump a 4 foot fence -well I was chasing my ball and it went into the next paddock).
I think I might be lucky because my 'Mum' has a big garden and paddocks for her ponies so I have plenty of space to run around in. We do walk around the lanes twice a day as well.
I go everywhere with 'Mum'. She even takes me to agricultural shows with her and I sit at the ringside to watch her.
It's almost a month now that I have been here. 'Mum' says that I make her laugh and I was just what she needed to get over the loss of her last dog. She tells me that I am 10 going on 2!
There are only 2 things that 'Mum' says I should try not to do. One is snoring---my bed is in a corner of her bedroom---and the other is helping her to muck out by eating the droppings! She tells me that all the Labs that she has known do this but it is not very nice, especially when I then go to lick her!
I've also got a new friend. Billy ( who was Lola at the kennels) is the dog of my Mum's friend.
So, I think that I might be happy here. I'll keep you informed.
Love
Bertie

Hi Bertie and Mum.
It's Billy [ex Lola] here. It's good to see you on the site. My Mum read your post out for me as I struggle a bit with reading. I'm ok with books, they taste nice, but the words confuse me. I'm dictating this now and Mum is typing it for me as my paws are a bit too big for the keyboard.
I know how much you like your new home because you told me all about it when you came to see me last week and we went for a walk in the Park together. You have so much space to run around in. You're going to be really happy there.
I don't know whether your Mum has told you yet but I am coming to stay with you for a week at the beginning of September. It will be great. I am really looking forward to having a go at your fence myself. And it sounds as if we could have quite a party down at the stables!
I was rescued nearly two years ago and I know a really big secret, which I'm going to tell to you now. It's this Bertie: We will be staying at our new homes forever!
Lots of Woof,
Billy and Mum
