Look!! No lead!

Post by benjiesmum »

I have struggled for a long time to get the hang of Photoshop. Bit by bit I have learnt a little, but I don't have a great deal of time to spend with it to become good at it. My late father was a real whizz with PS. I am sure that some of you will also be trying to master it! Also, I get to grips with something then the next time I try to do it, ! have forgotten how on Earth you did it. That may be an age thing! :D

Well here is the first thing that I have tried to sort out in PS I am quite proud of. :)

I took this photo of Buddie at the beach but as usual I hadn't looked carefully enough to see any bits that may spoil the photo - and yes, there it was - his lead in the way. I could have kicked myself.

So...I spent a couple of hours trying to get rid of the lead - which I managed. But no sooner had I done that that I realised I would need to get rid of the shadow of the lead too!!!! That took even longer, but to prove I have done it I have posted the before and after shots for you!!!

With his lead........

and without his lead...........

The first one was also sharpened a little and the blues made more intense in PS. :D

Hi Lynne

You're very brave - I keep opening Photoshop and then closing it again!!

Perhaps you can set up an online tutorial?!

Julie

Fantastic Lynne, I have no idea how to use....leave it all to hubby. It certainly makes a difference to the finished look, you must be very proud.

Thanks for all those lovely comments.

Well, I have sent it to Kathryn, so you never know!!!! But there have been a fair few number of photos posted on here that have caught my eye. Maybe the calendar will have to be a "week to view" to get all the good piccies on it.

I went back this week to try to get a few more pics in the same place. I ended up with a very muddy dog (it was low tide) who wouldn't sit still for even one minute. Just goes to show - seize the moment while you can!!!! :D

Photo shop is a great program to use. It is something that does take time though and don't be afraid to try things with it.

You can't ruin the original picture because it will always ask you if you want to save any changes, but my tip is to make a copy of the original and always work from that, that way you never have to worry.

Remember that if you press Ctrl+Alt+Z then it undoes what ever you did last if you make a mistake and you can just keep pressing it to go back many steps.

Oh yes, Flinty. I've been there done that and got the t-shirt. I agree!! Always, always save your original. :D
