My special boy Ty

Post by Lea »

Hi I've never posted on this page but have always visited the site over the years and read all the stories that have been posted so know you will understand how I'm feeling. I had to have my boy pts on Thursday he was at home with all the family with him. Ty was one of the first lot over from Ireland and we got him from Glenys in 2004 when he was six months old I remember Glenys saying I've not let him out before you came because she wanted us to know how energetic he was - she was right he managed to eat the whole door frame in the first few months - so we just took out the door and made a new archway!! He turned out to be that special dog you have once in a lifetime. We still have our chocolate lab Jack who is also from Glenys who's now 13. Just wanted to say thanks to the rescue for sending him to us.
Sorry to ramble on I'm being selfish hoping this will help me get through this.

X Diane

Hello Diane

So very sorry for the loss of your Ty. I completely know what you mean by special dog of a lifetime, he sounded wonderful. I've been a member of the site since the "old"one and remember all the special Irish dogs. What a lucky lad he was to have found you and had such a long a and glorious life. I hope in time the sadness heals and you can smile at all the fabulous memories.

No need to feel selfish Diane. Most of us know how you feel, and if it helps you, then don't hesitate.

Sorry you have said your final goodnight to Ty, he was obviously very much loved and cherished and I think that's all our furbabies want from us.

My heart goes out to you Diane, it's truly awful when we lose any dog but when it's that special dog in a million that you've had a unique bond with it is very hard. I also remember when the first Irish dogs came over and Ty was very lucky to adopt such an understanding owner who didn't mind their home being rearranged:) You and Ty have obviously had a very happy life together and I hope all your special memories will, in time, make you smile as you remember him.

I lost my "dog in a million" only 3 months ago and I'm still finding it hard but we talk about him all the time and try and laugh at our happy memories instead of getting upset. The people on this Forum were very supportive when George died and I hope you will feel that support too.

Run free at the Bridge dear Ty.

Diane its not selfish at all to share your grief on here, you know that fellow lab lovers will understand your distress.
Ty sounds like he was a handful at first - also intuitive and helpful knowing that you really wanted an archway......and he became your one in a million boy.
Thinking of you and your family at this sad time and hope you find comfort remembering Ty's antics and your adventures together. Safe in your heart..........

I'm so sorry you have lost Ty. The story of his arrival at his forever home made me smile, and that he became that one in a million. Thank you for giving him a home and loving him despite his early woodworking skills.

So sorry to read you have lost Ty, I too have been around since the old site and remember the Irish dogs. I am pleased you had 12 years with your special boy, it is never enough you want them forever and I certainly know what you mean when you just have that extra bond with a dog. Thinking of you at this sad and difficult time.

Run free at the bridge Ty sweetheart.

I would just like to say thank you to all of you for helping our family get through this difficult time. We can remember him without completely falling apart now, smiling thinking of the time I was trying to get him out of neighbors garden at 3.30 in the morning in my pj's (he had just jumped our 6ft fence - next day we added a 2ft trellis ). Think he should of been interior designer or landscape gardener what with the arch and making fence look pretty as it now has lovely clematis growing through it!

Thank you all

Sorry to hear of your loss. As me mentioned earlier in replies, labradors really get under your skin and become much loved family members. We just wanted to pass on our condolences and hope you can remember the great times you had with Ty.
Best wishes.
