Hills Dog Food - Any Comments

Post by Diesel Kate »

Any Comments.

Megan 11 in July was found to have Hip Dysplasia (almost certainly had it from a pup) on the recommendation of the Physio Vet to change her food to Hills Prescription Diet – Metabolic + Mobility (as with all Hills products come GOLD wrapped) and to lose just under 3 kg. Now my query is, Megan was on Chappie and has gone from 1 Large POO once a day to 3 huge POO’s a day on the Hills, perfectly formed not lose. I would have thought that there should not have been that much wastage with the Hills. Anyone any thoughts as to why?

Hi Kath,

I encountered exactly the same thing many years ago when I was recommended Hills.

When I queried this with our vet at the time who was a stockist he said that Hills used concentrated protein and vitamins and all the rest was filler that expanded in the stomach to make the dog feel full and was subsequently passed unprocessed as waste. Needless to say I stopped using it!
Having said that I know there are many satisfied users of Hills.

Sorry Kath, I've got nothing useful to add, except that I've used and liked Hills in the past but was very interested to read what Paul said, glad he posted that. Hope you sort something out for Megan that helps.
