Mum says that she'll try again with photos and videos as she was so pleased with me this morning.

I can actually now play fetch properly so she videoed me with my lop-sided grin and tail wagging waiting for her to throw the ball for me. I raced after it across the garden and... took it to her! Apparently this is how I am supposed to play fetch instead of me chasing the ball and standing by it waiting for her to pick it up again and throw it.

I did it 5 times then when I had had enough I shot straight into the house with the ball in my mouth.

Only "paw" to do now then I'm as trained as mum wants me to be.

She is so pleased with my obedience as I now sit and stay even when she walks away for quite a distance with her back to me, then when she turns round she looks at me for a little while and then tells me to come so I race to her. She thinks I have been well trained by my former humans but had forgotten most things as I'm so excitable.

I've heard rumours about dish washers so when the dishes were being put in last night I ventured a small lick at a plate (well it was cheese sauce, what temptation!). Mum shook her head and said that my genes were showing.

Hi Sam
Apologies for being out of touch with you, but I am in Spain at the moment, you would not like it here, it is much too hot.
My lovely girls are at home with the dog sitters, but I will let them know how busy you are, and how clever you are.
So once you have mastered the PAW you have cracked it.
Look after yourself and your mum.
Love from me

And now I can do “paw”. It made Mum very happy!

Just a quick update as something exciting happened yesterday.

I was walking along the old railway track near our house with my dad yesterday afternoon when I spotted mum coming in the other direction! She should have been at work but she went to see something called a client close to home so she was home early, tracked dad on his phone and came to meet us.

I got excited, dad let me off the lead so I ran towards mum then stopped dead 'cause I wasn't sure it was her but it was so I took off towards her at great speed and jumped up and down wagging my tail so much I almost took off. Then dad put my lead back on when he caught up and we all walked home. It was lovely mum coming home early. What a surprise!

So, first time off lead and no problem at all. (Actually I won't even go in the garden yet unless mum or dad is with me so I don't know why they thought it may be a problem).
