Degenerative myelopathy- please help

Post by mollymunch »

Hi

Fern (our rescue girl) has been diagnosed with possible degenerative myelopathy. Vet has recommended that she has hydrotherapy sessions to help but unfortunately vets hydrotherapy sessions are busy until next month. Can anyone recommend a hydrotherapist in or Stockport so we can get her started ASAP? We are heartbroken for our gorgeous girl.

Any advice etc gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Alison

So sorry can't offer any help either with how to manage a degenerative disease or a local hydrotherapist near you. The nearest one I am aware of is Church Stretton area.

Lots of love for you and Fern.

Hi Alison. My beautiful boy Zach has also had this diagnosis about six weeks ago. Zach is 10 and in everything else a very fit lab. I live in the Ribble Valley and we are going up to Myerscough College for hydrotherapy to try to help him. My therapist has also suggested different exercises we can do. Also my vet has given him weekly injections for four weeks. Another thing we are doing is giving him a scrambled egg with his food every morning to try to build up the muscle. If there is anything else you would like to know please feel free to message me or if you would like to chat just let me know.
With love to you and Fern
