JAKE !

Post by billybluemoor »

This is Jake, a lovely friendly chocolate boy ( Pictures below )

Glenys has asked me , as Jakes Foster/Carer, to post updates on Jakes progress.

Poor Jake is severely underweight at just 26 Kilo's, only his thick coat prevents everyone from seeing his bony hips and ribs. He's quite a tall dog who should reasonably weigh around 35 kilo's.
Jake had been neglected and beaten, and obviously starved, when Glenys rescued him from an undisclosed address in the North West.
The circumstances surrounding this poor boys sad demise are very distressing and upsetting and I must be wary about being too judgmental in this particular case.
Fortunately for this old boy he will now be spending Xmas with me and my family, although there will always be a place for him at the Rescue, it was felt that in the circumstances, he should come to a warm home and have treatment for several urgent health problems. All funded by the 'Rescue' and it's valuable supporters !!

Jakes visit to the Vets was too long overdue, he has a severe ear infection which the Vet says has been ongoing for possibly years !!! It has become so bad that his constant scratching has caused a bald patch of infected skin behind his ear.
He has given him anti-biotics for his ulcerated ear but he may have to have surgery at a later date for the removal of calcified tissue growth blocking the ear canal.
The good news is that the growth on his tummy is just a 'fatty lump' and requires no action.
The Vet, who specialises in Labradors, estimates his age at ''At least 10'' and he has the usual arthritic Labrador Hips, which again, need no action just yet.
Apart from that, his coat will improve with a Regular healthy diet and his Anxiety condition will improve the longer he stays in a stable and loving environment, which of course he will get with us.
Jake goes back to see our Vet Mr Locke next week who will assess his needs further.

Thank you for all your continuing support for old dogs such as Jake, without your help, support and generosity it would be nigh on impossible to provide them with a deserving healthy old age.

Poor, poor boy, Martin. Those eyes are so very soulful.

He really is in the very best of care now with you. I hope he has a wonderful Christmas. He has now certainly landed on all four paws. Bless him.

I agree wholeheartedly well done Martin.
lets not forget sometimes receiving Love is the best tonic a neglected dog can have and there is an abundance of that with Martin,Kathryn and james.
and of Course Lady and Billy.

Maybe also Ian can feature his and carolyns Foster Dog Big Ben as well for a christmas update.

And Alison can feature Coco

All these dogs are in the Christmas CD / DVD

Martin, he is definately an honorary Coco, lol. They look so much alike. Even down to the very thick fur!

Jake is just gorgeous. He will thrive now in your care.

Love to you all.

Glenys ... I did a tribute to Coco a couple of weeks ago. Do you want another one? Or should I just wait til January ... his first gotcha day is jan 15th.

Jake's new life starts now thanks to Glenys and Martin. I can't wait to see how he progresses, Martin will work his magic and a new dog will emerge. As far as Jake is concerned that is the miracle of Christmas.

Martin and Kathryn you are very kind people you bring so much happiness to these poor dogs' lives. Thank you.
