Now I have my Brodie I am out walking at 6.30 on the field for half an hour and street walking half an hour but how lovely to live so close to a beach. What do you all you ladies feel like about security when walking your dogs early in the dark. I do not do a late night walk but love the early morning ones. My father is whittering on at me about security and walking in lonely places on my own! The dog I have is definitely not a guard dog!!

only just seen this post so my answer is that while Paddy is our pet and not a trained guard dog, ever since he was about 8 months old whenever anyone approached me he always moved slightly in front of me until they passed, he never made any move toward them and I certainly never trained him to do it ( I wouldn't know how to). This action on his part has always given me a feeling of protection and I have wandered around the estate at all hours and even walked home in the dark from the next village when he was able to walk that far.
