I have been wanting to post an update on Archie for a while now, but hadn't dare tempt fate!
But, seeing as you have asked Kathryn......

He has been off his antibiotics for 4 weeks and all appears ok. We have, this week, starting to add a little bit of Burns Fish and Brown rice food into his diet. Going to wean him off the Hills i/d food VERY slowly. But so far, so good. He is starting to gain weight. Again, slowly, but surely, but the scales are now going in the right direction.

His paw has healed nicely. He had a nasty sore, which is now a bald patch on the leg of that paw. The vet suspected the dressings hadn't helped matters there, but it was a case of needs must. She did a skin scrape of the area, just incase it was mites or similar, but that was clear.

Sooooo....to summarise, Archie is doing just fine. He makes us laugh so much. He has no idea when it comes to retrieving a ball. He will chase after it, but Lexi always beats him. If he does happen to get there first, he then lets her take it out of his mouth. Lets her bring it back and then off they go again!

He has learnt to swim too....so the pair of them are in the water more than they are out of it when they get the chance.

Happy days at the Edwards household - about time too!

Really pleased to hear that the lovely Archie is a lot better, let's keep everything crossed that he stays that way. What a roller coaster ride you have been on with him, at least he likes going to the vets it could have been so much worse if he'd been terrified :2008:

He's such a gorgeous boy and I really hope he is now sorted and will continue to gain weight :thumbright:

Its a case of Victor Meldrew's "I don't believe it!" today in the Edwards' household.
After 7 weeks off antibiotics and being gradually weaned onto a "normal" (BURNS fish and Brown rice) diet, over a period of 4 weeks - Archie has the delightful sloppy poos again!
I am gutted. I really hope that we are not back to square one and that maybe he has eaten something while he has been out and about and I am just panicking....
Sooooo....I will starve him for 24hours and see how we go. Have booked an appointment for the Vets on Monday, just in case things don't improve.

Off to Wales with him and Lexi in a couple of weeks time, so really could do without it all flaring up again! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I think the next step is blood tests as poo samples were clear. I am hoping and praying its just a blip!

Thankyou Jackie M for your email....not quite sure how I reply back to you via email as I don't have your email address and it isn't showing as a message on here, not sure why! Thanks for your advise.
The first time this happened, we were trying to get him on James Wellbeloved (the same as our other lab). The vet put him on Hills i/d whilst on the antibiotics. He was on this from Feb til end of April when we did the gradual switch over to Burns. He has appeared to be fine, until we tried to just give him 2 feeds a day rather than 3 last week. We had two days where he brought his tea straight back up, but poos ok. Then poos went wrong again yesterday. Haven't fed him today, will leave him til the morning now, but unsure what to start him back on as last time chicken and rice didn't work either! I still have some of the i/d left and a huge bag of Burns!!!!!! It seems strange that he has been fine for the past few weeks. Am hoping it is just something he has picked up while we have been put. We have said we should have called him Dyson as he does hoover up everything and anything!

Also hope it's just a blip. Millie had the trots the other week it was awful :2008: . Don't know what caused that unless it was canal water she'd been swimming while on a walk. Poor Archie.
