Well, I went back to my own bed Friday night, after 2 weeks on the settee, making sure Kizzy didn't mess up her stitches during the night (neither of us liked the e-collar

)and she couldn't come into the bedroom cos she can't climb stairs.
(I'm telling you lot this, because I know you'll understand and not think I was stupid.

)
Anyway, I was dreading this, expecting her to cry, howl or bark. Sat morning at 4.30, she did- but that was 6 hours by herself, which was good going. Sunday, 6am, just a little howl-so that was 8hours of sleep we both got. Last night NOTHING! -she woke me at 8am with a little cry -10 hours of sleep!!!! (Have a feeling though that she slept on the settee although she swears she didn't as she's not allowed on there......

)
Now she's healed, she spends a lot of time off the lead. Her recall is great-if she looks as though she's going to leg it over to someone or a dog, I call her over and over and jump up and down and every time so far I've got her attention and she's come to me.(I read this on here somewhere). I feel so proud of her. She loves fetching the ball, but then chews them. We used up 2 brand new ones yesterday and another one today. Will have to look out some reinforced ones!!
She loves ice-covered puddles and scratches at them till they break, and then pushes her head right under to pick up a piece of ice and then eats it. I've never seen a dog do this before. She also loves being towelled dry and will lift her feet for me. Also loves being brushed- I can get to those places she just can't reach!!
Now the only serious outstanding problem is this barking when I go to the shop- never more than 5 minutes. This morning, I gave her 4 biscuit treats just as I went out and I was almost at the bottom of the street before I heard her. There wasn't any barking as I got back, the biscuits were just about gone, but she was doing a bit of coughing, gulping as though she was determined to get the biscuits eaten but also to do some token barking to show that she wasn't going to be side-tracked this way.

. Well, we'll just have to keep trying!
This seems a bit long-winded but I just feel so proud of her. She's come such a long way in 4 weeks and been through a lot of change (so have I,

). Also, if Gracie, Rose and Fudge are anything like her, their new owners are in for a treat. I look at those dogs that I 'missed out' on, and know that the right one came along for me.
