Hi Bob

I'll let Mum know about the wire brush trick for clearing up smeared rawhide chews - might get a sneaky cuddle in too!

Its lovely to read that you are living life to the full now Anna, but I do think you mum should by you a new coat until you manage to grow one of your own. Katie and Molly will tell you that puddles and mud are great especially when you go inside and shake, that when the artwork really starts, you also get extra cuddles when being dried.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year! Let me tell you of my Winter Adventures thus far . . .

I don't like it when it is cold and wet. Mum says I ought to run round even faster to keep warm like big black brother does but my paws get cold. I asked for some wellies but Mum just laughed. However, the cold weather has done one thing - I have developed magic powers!!! I can now actually walk on water!!! Mum says I will get a very cold wet shock when my powers melt but I think she is just being a spoilsport.

Mum sent me to the hospital for a day. They made me sleep and when I woke up I was wearing a nasty bonnet and my tummy was sore. I was so pleased to see Mum though in the evening that I forgot about my tummy and trotted (a bit wobbly) acros the floor to collect her. That evening Mum took the bonnet off (not a good fashion item) and I slept in front of the fire which she turned on for me. After that, I only had to wear my bonnet if there was no-one around. I'm not quite sure why they made me wear it - it was very inconvenient. The next morning I felt fine - I was even jumping up at Mum with all four feet leaving the floor. She said I shouldn't do that yet - more spoilsport behaviour. It was a bit dull for the next few days but I was soon allowed to run round properly again.

After this - well, you'll never guess - Mum took both me and big black brother to a special shop which at first I thought would be boring as it seemed to just have horse stuff in it so I wondered why big brother Benjamin was not there instead. When we got to the back of it there was a nice girl there to see us and she had - guess what??? (I know you can't guess after Mum said I couldn't have one) An armful of party frocks for me to try on and hunting jackets for Luddy!!! Can you believe it? At least I know for the future that nagging and looking miserable and perfecting my shivering technique works! We both got kitted out and although it was Christmas eve, Mum said we could have them then. She said the real reason was because she thought the travel capsule in the back of the truck was too cold and draughty for us in the winter but I know she just wanted us to be cosy and smart anyway. We don't wear them for running as we would get too hot but we wear them for travelling and supervising Mum when she is doing outdoor stuff and we can't run round at the same time.

I will get her to take some photos of us both in our jackets - we are sort of matching but not but I won't describe them here - you'll have to wait for the photo! Obviously hairy brother sniggered when her saw me in my new frock and muttered snide remarks about being so incompetent with hair growth as to need a man made warming device but it's okay for him - he has a massive fleece all of his own (but I bet he gets hot in the summer - I didn't dare say this out loud though - he might get me!)

For Christmas we went to Yorkshire where there was lots of white stuff called snow. It was ace!!! you can jump and leap in it - the only downside is that it is a bit chilly but it is so much fun that doesn't matter. Uncle Nick came and we all went to the Sledging Hill on the Moors. It is really long and steep and Uncle Nick said I could chase him on the sledge - so I did. Obviously, I was faster than the sledge but I kept letting Uncle Nick catch up again - he had to slow down for the corners which didn't help him with his speed.

All of us got some Christmas presents - I wasn't sure what you did with them so I watched the others and they sniffed theirs and then pulled the paper off so I did the same. They were mainly essential things like chews so we were very pleased. Mum said our new clothes were a Christmas present too.

I am adding some photos of me below doing various things - I hope they will attach on properly!

Hi Everyone,

Wow, have I got loads of news for you!!! You know I told you that big black brother gets all serious and goes off to be a tough working dog and Mum won't let me go along with him? Well, on Friday night, Mum loaded up the truck with rucksacks and funny green clothes and some Wellies and some DOG FOOD so I knew immediately that we were going for an expedition. I put on my party frock (rubbish Mum has not yet taken photos of this) and Lud put on his hunting jacket and we jumped into the travel capsule. We have a curtain across it at the moment as well to keep out the draughts. Uncle Nick was coming too. We travelled for at least three hours. I was really excited because we usually go somewhere nice and Lud was in a really weird excited mood too - not seen him like this before.

We arrived at a little stone lodge in Gloucestershire and had tea and went to bed. Lud slept on Mum's bed which I thought was rank favouritism as I had to sleep in another capsule in the lounge with Uncle NIck. Mum said she didn't trust me in someone else's house not to nibble on things that don't belong to me but I think she is being a bit unfair.

Anyway, in the morning we got up and I found another four legged friend so bounced up to say hello - at least I thought it was a friend but it hissed at me and ran out through a tiny hole in the door. I tried to follow but crashed into what I later found out was called a cat flap so I was foiled in my attempt to get to know this creature better. So antisocial of it! We leapt into the travel capsule again and drove for a short while to a farm. We got out and there were loads of people wearing the funny green clothes and caps that Mum had put on this morning and there were lots of labradors, spaniels and other dogs. It was so exciting!!! I dashed round talking to everyone and then we put on our leads and all went off to a big field where a lot of the people lined up in a row carrying long metal sticks and we stood behind them. Suddenly some things flew over, there were lots of bangs and they fell out of the sky! Luddy was beside himself with excitement and Mum let him off and he came back carrying one of these big things. I had a good sniff at it and it was soft with fluffy stalk like things on it (Lud said they were feathers).

We did this on different fields and then we went in the woods. I had asked to be let off my lead but Mum said not yet - spoilsport and favouritism towards Lud AGAIN! Uncle Nick was holding my lead and when we were in the woods and lots of these things (Lud says they are pheasants and I must learn to use the correct terminology) fell out of the sky after lots of bangs. Two landed just 10 yards from me so I ran over with Uncle Nick to show him where they had landed. I wasn't sure what to do with them though so prodded them with my nose until Uncle Nick picked them up for me. Mum was very pleased with me finding them and said I could go off my lead in between drives. On the last drive we were in a large field and a thing (whoops, sorry - a pheasant!) fell down about 30 yards away. I saw it and was desperate to get it so Mum let me go. I ran like the wind to it but wasn't quite sure what to do next so Luddy came up and picked the thing (whoops again! - pheasant) up and carried back to Mum. I ran along side and watched closely but when I thought I would have a go he wouldn't let me have it. I felt this was a bit unfair - he was trying to take the credit for MY pheasant! He gets really smug when he has picked one up and carried it back to Mum but I have to admit he is really good and efficient at it. He even went into brambles and bushes lots of times to find ones no-one else could! Uncle Nick walked me through some brambly scrub but I didn't want to go as it had loads of prickles. Mum said I was being a princess again but I said I would rather be a princess than a labrador that looked like a sieve due to so many holes being punctured in me. Mum just laughed and said I would get used to it - I DON'T think!

When we finished the day, we went back to the farm and Mum let me have a photo taken with some of the pheasants I had found so I will attach them below.

We then had some tea and Mum drove us home. I slept all the way as I was so tired from my adventures and Luddy slept because he had worked really hard. On the way back I woke up once and thought I had been dreaming the whole adventure but when I opened my eyes the proof of my day was lying next to the travel capsule - two pheasant things. (Lud says it is a brace and I need to remember this unless I want to embarrass myself on the shooting field with my ignorance.)

So, we had a great weekend and Mum was really pleased with me and says she will spend the next few months teaching me how to pick up the pheasants like Luddy does. When we got home, the evil hairy brother was there and when he saw us come in and realised what we had been doing he muttered something like "gundog fools - running in the mud picking up corpses!" but I ignored him - he's probably scared of the guns or some such nonsense!

Anyway, must go and sleep some more - it was a very tiring weekend!

Catch you later
