I think all the thanks is due to you lovely people at the rescue doing so much good work - why people are allowed to get their dogs into such a state I will never know - breeding should be monitored in my opinion - but there are obviously some with real reasons for rehoming and we need people like you to do this work. I think you are all brilliant. :love3: I get all my thanks looking at this lovely oldie keeping this oldie young!

Re: POPPY DOING VERY WELL (photos added) - 1 month today

Post by SusanKerr »

Well we are doing really well - Poppy and I are walking an hour and a quarter every day divided into 3 walks - I feel better - she looks and feels better and is now doing things like a normal dog like rummaging in the bushes now and not wanting to pass a dead rabbit on the road this morning! = She is as of yesterday 42.2 kg almost 3 kg in 1 month and I have done just over the same - walking is so good for you!. She walks to heel really well - unfortunately she lurches at the sheep in the field but i dont know if she knows what they are - I want a friendly farmer with an old ewe and a lamb who will sort her out if it continues - she does the same to cows - I think a townie dog maybe :love2: .
We love Poppy.

Not only doing well but she brought me a large live hedgehog from the bushes on our walk last night and ran along to give it to me - luckily it was not harmed - my ankles bear the flea bites confirming it was flea ridden - it was put back in the bushes and has gone this morning but madam remembered where it had been!! - gentle mouth thankfully. I do so love a hedgehog!

  My last lab never barked at anything except if he found a hedgehog in the garden, then it was action stations as he would nudge it with his nose. One night we were going to bed, let him out for his last wee and then we heard barking by the time we'd run to the top of the garden and got him back into the kitchen his muzzle and all round his eyes were just covered in fleas :2026: Paul and I sat for ages one on each side until we had caught them - we couldn't go to bed and leave them on him.

Re: POPPY DOING VERY WELL ( operation update today)

Post by SusanKerr »

Poppy 41.5kg this morning so we are doing really well - she has just come round from an anaesthetic to remove a toe - it was badly infected and eaten away as would not respond to antibiotics and my wonderful boss and vet took off her eyelid wart and also some skin tag wart things and a lump from her lip = I am so pleased - she is awake and fine and after a couple of weeks slow without walking we hope to be back walking more and more now this is sorted out.

Makeover well on the way then? Poppy is a lucky girl to get all these beauty treatments, though I doubt she thinks so! Hope her recovery goes smoothely. :1961:
