Re: Help - Frank STILL putting on weight!!!!!
the tub of marge was this mornings effort, probably the bread still in his gut and a little dry, ive also come in to half licked plates out of the sink, and frying pan with only oil on one side on the hob, copious quantities of horse poop and 2 wooden spoons have been mercilessly murdered and his personal favourite if i leave a coffee mug down the side of a chair its miraculously empty and laying on its side if its left for 2 minutes. as soon as i come into the house i can tell hes been up to something as if hes got nothing to hide he will be laid in the living room but if i come in and hes stood next to the patio doors looking rather sheepish and wagging his tail somethings afoot i just have to nosey round the house. nipped for a pee last week and came out of the toilet to find him in the kitchen with an empty can of mushy peas stuck on his nose out of the bin

Forgot to close the kitchen door the other day when we went out - Frank ate ...wait for it... 2 sliced loaves, 1kg muesli (including the pecan nuts he won't eat if offered) a crusty olive bread, a large bag of cat biscuits, my sandwiches for the day out!!!! - he managed to open the butty box, not impressed - all that was missing was a partridge in a pear tree...he didn't touch his carrots in the veg basket..hmmmm...all that and he was only alone a short while...he suffered the next day though serves him right but he probably hasn't learnt not to steal.
A couple of extra miles this week to compensate I think.
Have fun

Re: Help - Frank STILL putting on weight!!!!!
My 14 yr. old rescue boy came to me nearly 3 yrs. ago at age 11 and 53 kgs. and had trouble breathing/walking etc. I gave him 4 x 10 minute lead walks daily, building up to 30-40 twice daily off lead exercise and a diet of Hills. His companion, a 10 yr. old girl from the website (still with owner) was 43 kgs. and virtually crippled with arthritis. She did really well on the Hills and still does, having maintained 34 kgs. for over 2 years now and currently on PLT but active.
Winston, my beloved boy, had less success with the Hills and I changed him to Royal Canin which was better although he has never got below 45 kgs. . He is now creeping up again in old age and I keep him to 300gms. of dry with raw carrot treats and sometimes veg. stock of runner beans, swede, carrot and a few peas, all spread over 3 meals daily. He is an amazing boy and has had 3 lots of surgery, the last one in January, and his old heart is, to my vets constant astonishment,as strong as ever! I recently put him back on Hills light and can see the difference in him again although to be fair his mobility has reduced considerably recently and he decides when he's had enough on walks which can vary from 10 mins. token gesture to a leisurely stroll checking out any new smells and sights.
Thankfully he has an iron constitution and so I'm going back to Royal Canin. My son and daughter in law have 3 labs and a lab x and run a pet food store - they swear by Pro Plan.
