Charlie one week on

Charlie is settling in well. He is getting a bit keener on his walks although cars and loud noises frighten him and he's not too keen on walking in the dark, but he's getting better. He's met one or two dogs and is fine, he let our previous dogs girlfriend lick his face. :bighug:
The only thing is he is terrified of the words "no" and "in". He cowers in fear. :cry3: He was caught stealing the cat food of the worktop and his reaction was awful when I said no. Nothing he can ever do warrants a reaction like that.
We have decided to substitute "oyy" for no.
Any suggestions for "in" we used it all the time for getting in the car or going in the house with our previous dog.
Painting is tiring work.

Aw lovely update, such a shame he's terrified of those words. :blue:

How about substituting 'in' for ' here' ?

Good luck. :bravo:

Ha just thought aswell, if Charlie wags his tail as much as my two do, i.e. Constantly, you could always attach the painting brush to it, job done in no time.

Glad Charlie is settling in, he looks such a gentle boy and so said he's terrified of those words :cry3:

Please give Charlie a :bighug: from us.

Charlie is so lovely and we are very pleased that he is settling in well.
I also thought of here or even clever boy car clever boy house, something encouraging if he is nervous.
Good luck and :bighug: for Charlie from us.

thanks for the suggestions.
Just took him out and used " here" and he was fine so that's his new vocabulary :)
he gets scared when he hears dogs barking.
He isn't scared of the hoover surprisingly. (damn)lol

So pleased Charlie has found a loving home, I loved the photo of him with your cat. As for those terrifying words, U-ho said lightly works with grandson! although it is similar to no, but you could try it and see how he reacts. Our Em was terrified of the dark at first but is ok now, she still hates the hoover (12 months on) and gets really distressed at popping noises ie those on duvet covers and babygros. It will take time but with lots of love I'm sure his confidence will grow.
