Labrador Rescue

Hi everyone, Lily here!

Sorry it's been a while since I managed to get my paws on Mummy's PC, but this news is soooooooooooooo..... special that Mummy gave me permission.

In January I was accepted as a Pets as Therapy Dog, and this month I began visiting a primary school as part of Read 2 Dogs programme. I love listening to the stories, having my tummy and ears tickled and of course the treats that the children give to me as a reward for their good reading! How lucky am I?

PS. Mummy says that rescue dogs are brilliant, and after a difficult start in their own lives,can go on to do such good things!

That is fantastic new Lily, well done If you get time pop into some of the care homes for older people too as they love to have a cuddle you will brighten their day

Such a rewarding job Lilly. Well done to you.

My Labrador Niambh was a registered PAT dog and worked with disabled and disadvantaged children and adults alike.

One story sticks in my memory when we had a little boy staying at the activity centre where Niambh and I worked. This little boy hadn't uttered a word for months, and nobody knew why.

One lunch time, I was walking Niambh through the lounge and she went over to the little boy. She sat quietly by his side, and within less than a minute he started talking to her. Well, there were tears in my eyes, and the carers eyes too. We couldn't wait for his parents to collect him. They had got their little boy back. Needless to say, they all went home very happy indeed.

I said if she never achieved anything else, that was enough for me.

No doubt you will have stories like this of your own to tell Lilly. Molly visits a care home when we go out with Malcolm Gent. Malcolm sings after Molly has done her rounds. After that, whilst Malcolm sings, Molly sleeps.
