Labrador Rescue

Hello all,

Hope you're all keeping well. Sorry I haven't checked n for months but been extremely busy.

Henry is loving his new life here, he's lost all his excess weight thanks to the hills ans long country walks here. e loves discovering all the new smells, deer, wild boar, snakes.... so different from a modern estate in Warrington! He also a whole lot calmer here so obviously the country life is the one for him

We have to be very carefulhere as it's a haven for Ticks and Fleas thanks to the hot, humid climate. I'm thinking of taking out shares on Frontline!!

Great to hear from you Kirsten, looks like the French life is agreeing with you all particularly Henri! He really does look well. My two chase the deer and have unfortunately experienced the bite of the snakes in this country.....but Wild Boars well that must be fun, no wonder Henry is having a great time I bet you all have never looked back!

Thank you all for your kind comments. Dave we moved to SW France last August

Definitely made the right choice, life is so laid back and friendly here and so beautiful. Just going to the supermarket (20 mins drive away and not open 24/24) I drive past 3 chateaux!!

The wild boar here are just that, wild, if you hear one coming you have to get out of their way and hide as they're VERY big and quite angry beasts!!

At last getting used to the hot weather. We can only walk Henry early morning or late evening as temps get up to 35° and above (nearly 40 today) ans as it's very hilly neither Henry or us find it very pleasant when the sun's at its hottest!!

We've had our embarassing moments thanks to Henry's love of food, he dived into the woodcutter's garage when we went to order our wood for winter and came out looking very proud with a whole loaf of bread in his mouth. He also escaped into the next door neighbur's garden and decided to see what fresh veg straight from the plants would taste like!! Luckily most people round here love dogs and find Henry very handsome so we got away with it!!

My son and daughter in law moved to Sospel 3 years ago with their 3 labs and a lab/Belgian Shepherd; they own a pet shop in Sospel and absolutely love the life as you have described.There was recently an article about them in the English news magazine the Riviera Reporter!
They work very hard but enjoy the rewards of living in a beautiful country where they have been made very welcome in the local community.
