Supposed to be TRUE

Subject: Now, why didn't I think of that!!

Apparently, a true story.

Outside Bristol Zoo, there is a car park for 150 cars and 8 coaches.

It was manned by a very pleasant attendant with a ticket machine charging cars £1 and coaches £5.

This parking attendant worked there solid for all of 25 years. Then one day, he just didn't turn up for work.

"Oh well", said Bristol Zoo Management - "we'd better phone up the City Council and get them to send a new parking attendant."

"Err no", said the Council, "that car park is your responsibility".

"Err no", said Bristol Zoo Management, "the attendant was employed by the City Council, wasn't he?".

"Err NO!"

Sitting in his villa in Spain , is a bloke who had been taking the car park fees, estimated at £400 per day at Bristol Zoo for the last 25 years.

Assuming 7 days week, this amounts to just over £3.6 million.

Fanbloodytastic...

You have to give him 10 out of 10 for ingenuity - wish I had thought of something like that :1956:

Well, it's not an urban myth in Florence. We drove there a couple of years ago, looked for somewhere to park, went into a carpark and the uniformed attendant waved us in, showed us where to park, issued us with an official looking ticket to display in our car and took about £18 in euros for a day's parking.

When we arrived back, shattered after a lovely day sightseeing in a heatwave, we found a parking ticket stuck on the windscreen as we were parked illegally. We didn't speak Italian but eventually we found a police station and found out it's a well known con trick on unsuspecting tourists :2008:

My dad told me a similar tale,

A few years ago they had a big factory job near Chester Races, they had to demolish and rebuild the factory.

Anyway one of the Labourers was extremely keen to work on Saturdays even though my dad said that there wasn't much to do but the guy came up with the usual sob story being skint etc. But for some reason he only wanted to work particular Saturdays.

To cut a long story short my dad got a call one day in the office from a coach firm who were complaining about something turns out the labourer only worked the Saturdays that Chester races had meets and the guy was charging coach drivers £10 to park on the site. The guy made an absolute fortune.
