Devon (now Alfie)

We adopted Devon from MKF last Sunday. He is a lovely boy, well trained and loves lots of cuddles.
We took him to the vet yesterday to bring his vaccinations up to date and to let the vet take a look at his tail which his brother had chewed when they lived together. The vet did frighten us by telling us that worse case scenario would be to have his tail removed

, because everytime dogs wag their tails they bang it and it takes forever to heal. We are absolutely determined that this will not happen, and today we have made a splint out of toilet roll middle and insulating tape (Blue Peter here we come)

:. We have left the end open so that fresh air can help heal the wound.
Devon is absolutely not bothered about his tail at all, he has made no attempt to remove the splint and has had a lovely long walk today.
I will post some pictures of our lovely boy soon.
Thanks to Glenys and Carol for all your help.

Aah can`t wait for the pics. Have you taken one of him with his "blue peter" bandage on

I am sure his tail will be fine very soon. It`s so difficult not letting them wag their tails though. Like the name Alfie too.

I'm so pleased Alfie has settled in so well, I thought he looked gorgeous on the rehoming page. I'm sure you will have lots of fun with him in the future.
Really hope his tail heals, I'm sure if he's leaving it alone you should be in with a very good chance. Using the loo roll inner made me smile,
it takes the Andrex ads to a new level.
Looking forward to seeing some pictures of Alfie in his new home.

Mmmmm think you are right about the blue tape! Poor Alfie! Actually he couldn't care less, not even sure he has realised he has the splint on at all.
