Fudge

What a great weekend this has been. After a weekend in Stafford visiting my sons and their families, I drove up the M6 to MKF to meet with Kathryn. My son Andrew and his girlfriend came along too - they could not resist. I am so glad they did as it was really helpful to have them with me. Thank you so much Kathryn for your patience and understanding in helping me to come to the what I now know is completely the right decision. I am delighted to tell you all that I now have a gorgeous choccie girl - Fudge. I think I knew as soon as she came bounding towards me, almost with a smile on her face and just wanting to be made a fuss of, that she was right for me. What a friendly girl she is and I know we will get along just fine.
After leaving MKF, we only drove a short way and stopped to give her a bit of a walk to settle her down before the 3 hour drive home to North Tyneside. She was so good on the journey, sleeping nearly all the way and only heard a few little whimpers from her now and again. She was very excited to be home and had a good sniff around the house and garden. We then had a walk and she was very good, excited and pulled a bit on the lead to start with but by the time we were walking back to the house she was walking beautifully, sitting and waiting at the kerbs - amazing. She ate all her dinner and then my brother and his wife and daughter called round to visit (they have an old choccie boy called Benson who Fudge will meet later). They loved her and she was so pleased to see them.
I did wonder what sort of night it would be - her first night in a strange house and she had been following me around like a shadow but I need not have worried. She went into her new bed and settled down with no problem although I do admit I waited at the top of the stairs for a while to listen but she seemed to know it was time for bed and I did not hear a peep from her all night. I got up at 7.00 and she was soooo pleased to see me. We went straight out for a walk and then back for breakfast. She has now settled down in her new bed again (think she likes it) while I am doing this and then I am going to phone the vets to get her booked in (she needs to be speyed).
Once again thank you again, Kathryn and Glenys, for all that you do for these lovely dogs and thank you for giving me the chance to have happy times again with my gorgeous girl - Fudge. I have attached some photos but will take some more later when we go to the beach for some fun.
