It's been a big day for Indie as today she met our eldest grandchild for the first time - he's 21 months old.
Grandson and parents came to us for Sunday dinner (they live about an hour and a half away from us), and we wondered how Indie would get along with with children. We'd taken her out for a long walk and run through the woods this morning so that she didn't have too much excess energy to burn.
She has met children in passing whilst out on her walks, but has not had a child up close and personal in her own space before - at least not with us.
I'm so proud of her - she behaved impeccably, just getting a bit too excited towards the end of the afternoon when the little man was exhausted and hyper.
We made sure she had an escape route to her own safe space - which she voluntarily used a couple of times - and ensured she had a tasty chew she could have in her safe area. She chose to share it though!
Our second grandson is one tomorrow - he and his parents live some distance away (Gloucester), and we don't expect to see them before Easter. Indie will be well and truly integrated into our household by then.
Right now she's exhausted after saying goodbye to the young 'un and then having a romp around the local playing field.
I'm knackered too as I've been on my feet since 6.30 this morning - time for a nap methinks.
A big day for Indie

Well done Indie
You never know what is going to happen in any situation for the first time. Bless her, she has surpassed herself. It sounds as though you thought through everything, by giving her a place to go. The fact that she chose to share her chew....brilliant!!
Enjoy your rest. You deserve it...
