Big Jessie - was Jessica
In November I spotted Jessica on this site. Something about her pulled at my heart strings and I went to bed thinking about her and woke up still thinking about her. She is a GSH / black lab cross and had been taken to the vet by her previous owners to be put down as they could no longer look after her. Fortunately the vet found her a place with Lab Rescue. We took Big Jessie (as she is now known) home on 16th November after travelling from our home in Cumbria with 2 of our other dogs to meet her.
Jessie is a big dog (hence the name) and we thought she needed a countryside home where she could run about off the lead and burn up some energy. When we got her she was not very fit, despite being lovely and slim, and had obviously never had much exercise as her claws were long and her pads as soft as a puppy's.
Well that has all changed and Jessie now gets at least 2 hours of exercise a day, off the lead, with our other dogs. They have all made friends and play together every day. Her pads have hardened up and we have already seen a huge difference in her fitness. It is great to see her galloping about on the hillsides.
Jessie is very affectionate and is great with everybody we meet, human and canine alike. She has also got the most comical ears which adds to her charm and character! I am going to post some pictures of her enjoying her new found freedom as soon as I work out how to do it.
Happy New Year to everyone.

Hi Wandering Dog so glad you have joined the forum.
We took Jessica and had her for 5 days. We really did not want to part with her, she is all that you wrote about her, but Balee would just not entertain her.
I have a couple of pictures of her that I will e-mail to you if you would care to PM me with your e-mail address. Her "ears" are fantastic.
Please give her a big hug from me.

Thanks to everyone for their kind messages. It's lovely to know there are so many people out there committed to dogs' welfare. Here are some photos of Jessie enjoying her new life.

Every day Jessie becomes less of a bull in a china shop and more of gentle giant.
