Well well perfect poppy not so perfect - chewed off the bandage, the stitches and part of the wound during Wednesday night. What a mess she made - its now nothing to be able to stitch so hopefully it will granulate and she is sporting a blow up collar all the time - I cannot believe it a whole week and she did not touch it ever - grr - It would be the morning she was going to be left at the vets anyway as i had a hospital appt - so at least she was in the right place! Now our walking is put back again for another couple of weeks.

Great to hear Poppy is still doing well with her weight loss even though her exercise is restricted at the moment.

Re: POPPY DOING VERY WELL - UPDATE 28/5/11
We continue to do well - our weight is down from 45.1kg 11 weeks yesterday to 39.1kg yesterday so she is doing really really well and her toe has healed up beautifully and hope that it does not cause any more problems - My vet says if I can get her to 35kg he will spay her and I strive to get there very soon as she was in season 3 months ago and really should be spayed now. It concerns me as she bled so heavily for Glenys in March that we know it could be a problem. We may have to postpone the season with drugs and then spay her later on.
She continues to walk - our longest was an hour and a half at one time and she was in the lead the whole way - she was never behind and enjoyed it and could have done more - Not had quite to much this week due to a health problem but back on track this weekend. She adores being in the field at the back of the house and we have great fun - she comes belting across the field and my shins are black and blue with ther careering into me at the end of it.
She is so good with the cats but other dogs are a big problem still but we will get there. We had my sons 9 year old collie and it took a few days and they were ok after that but it is a very sad house as Woody the collie was not behaving right and I had him checked out - all his lymph glands were up and he had a huge liver - he had lymphoma and despite the treatment starting within a week I had to make the decision with our vets to put him to sleep - son was in turkey on holiday and thankfully we had discussed it as I thought it would not be a good outcome. He came to work with me at the vets from a 9 week old puppy and stayed here all the time my son went away for weekends and holidays and he was so at home as this had been his first home. Consequently he knew the vets and was happy there and they and us are missing him so. Life is so cruel to a relatively young slim and fit dog like him.

Really sorry to read about Woody. What a terrible thing to happen while your son was on holiday. Just goes to show you never know what is round the corner.
I am pleased Poppy is still losing weight, hope she hits her target before too long. I remember how she was when in season last time and it would be great to save her going through that again. It sounds as though she is in the best hands between you and the vet though.
