Monty back from holidays

Post by christineredfearn1 »

Monty and I have been on holiday, we went on a dog activity holiday in Cannock Chase. We had a great time, there were about 15 dogs there and Monty was one of the best behaved. He did so much nose work that he was tired out and slept soundly each night after escorting some of us to the local hostelry for our evening meal. He sat there and never interfered with anyone eating, barked a couple of times at posing cats.

The B & B was very nice and very dog friendly, Monty tried herding the two goats which were in a pen at the back of the back garden. He was on the other side of the fence obviously, but he charged up and down on his side of the fence and the poor goats did the same on the other side.

He also made great friends with a Beagle named Jack, everyone on the site fell for his charms and good manners. Sadly I have no photos of the holiday but can assure everyone that he had a great time – as did I.

His gundog training is going on OK, a little slowly but that’s alright. He was allowed to play with the other labs after our last training session on the proviso that everyone stayed to catch him. But he came back with the other dogs – so I was quite impressed.

He also ran off into the duck pond in our local park, and to my amazement he came back on his own accord to see where I was – things are looking up in the recall dept.

He has also learnt what the ice cream van sounds like and is at this moment barking at the gate – waiting for someone to get him one – must go

Hope you like the pics, who's disturbing my sleep, no-one wants to play ball, and who's coming in the gate :2817:
