ROCCO-- Hi everyone I have settled well and I am throughly enjoying my new home and family. I have a new brother Bailey who is the same age as me but a black one, and I really enjoy going to mums smallholding where she keeps really big dogs (she calls them horses) and chickens, good fun to bark at!! Mum has also taken me to a place called the beach which was fab loads of space to run around with bailey and chase some seagulls which bailey is teaching me how to do! Mum said she panicked the other day as we disappeared into the horizon after a seagull but we came back when we remembered she had some treats in her pocket. Anyway must go now as mum is going to load the dishwasher and I am her best helper. I will send some pictures when dad downloads them. Big hugs and licks Rocco x x
Really pleased that Rocco has settled in so well, it sounds like he has made himself at home. What a lovely life he's now enjoying with horses, chickens and trips to the beach - what more could a lab ask for.
We love pictures on here so can't wait to see them.
Looks as though you have a lovely life with your new brother Bailey, how lucky are you to have so many animal friends around you.

My suggestion would be to take all the toys from him (when he is out of the room!) and put them in a place out of his reach. Give him one toy, on your terms, i.e make him do something good, (sit, paw etc). Let him play with them for a bit (10 minutes) and then take it from him ( do not attempt to take it from him if he shows any signs of aggression, you can distract him with a treat and then remove the toy). Keep doing this so that he realises that they belong to you and not him. The idea is that you say when he can and can't have them, not the other way around. Just a few other questions, has he done this from the time you got him? Do you have children in the house?

He only does it occasionally he tries to run away with them and if you follow him he will turn around look at you directly and growl. Think it just a power struggle while he finds his feet. No aggression at any time to the children who are 5 and 11 years just me and my husband. Will try what you suggest as he gives up his toys to bailey as he has put him in his place! forgot to say jackie, when he first came he didnt really play he just watched Bailey so it might be he just doesnt want anyone to stop his fun now he knows how to play! x x
Yes I agree with you it does sound like he is just finding his pack place Avril,....... he isn't playing when he turns and growls is he? Does his tail wag? My Bella does this but she is most definitely just playing I could take the toy from her no problem.
Hi no definately a come and get it if you dare stance! stock still and direct eye contact! however yesterday and today much better think he found his place but we will keep working! Gorgeous dog who is loved so much all ready, and is having the time of his life. I hope his previous owners take some comfort in knowing he is happy and settled with his new family. Thank you so much to all at MKF and beyond for letting Rocco start his new life with us. Keep up the good work and love and kisses to all the boys and girls in kennels awaiting their forever home your turn will come x x
