Charlie - One year later

Post by John Devlin »

Hi folks - It's just over a year since my wife Helen & I adopted Charlie (5 year old black neutered male) from Labrador Rescue. What a year - and what a Dog! He's not been a moments trouble from day one - the most "laid back" Labrador I've ever known. When we met him at MKF (in the pouring rain) our first thoughts were "exiteable" "boistrous" "strong" and "wild"! He can still be all those, but also "clever" "gentle" "funny" and "adoreable". We've always been used to bitches, he's our first male dog, so he get's "Mr." as his title (Mr. Silly, Mr. Bounce, Mr. Adaptable, Mr. Snooze, Mr. Tuggy & of course Mr. Labrador.) So pleased we got him, can't imangine life without him. Will post again soon, hopefully with some pics. John Devlin.

Hi John and welcome to the site.

We adopted Sam from MKF in July 2009 after losing Holly a few months earlier. Sam for me was also my first male, we had a bitch when I was young and then when we got married we had Holly and Jessie (you can read about her recent escapades on the forum !!). OH had had male dogs when he was small and then when we met he and his brother had his Mums female after she had died.

Once I got used to him peeing up and over all my plants there really isn't much difference. He was extremely well trained and obedient and settled in straight away. He is now my dog, follows me everywhere and I feel extremely safe when out with him. He is also very protective of Jessie (who is still the boss @ 14).

The site is great and the MKF crew work tirelessly. We now foster when we can and to date have had 3 bitches and 1 male. All moved in, made themselves at home and settled down with Sam & Jessie. Everyone does whatever they can to help.

I hope you get many, many more years with Charlie and if there was ever room for another........................you know where to go !!!

Hi John and welcome to the site. I loved reading your update. Charlie sounds adorable and it is clear from your posting how much he means to you and Helen and how much joy he has brought into your home - labs have a wonderful knack of doing that - the reason we have 3 lovely labs all from MKF too :love2:

I hope to read more updates on Charlie and we love to see pics on here too - PLEASE!
