More from Jess and her tail wagging

Post by Simon »

Thought I would update you on how Jess (formerly Jaffa) is getting on. We now see a lot more of the real girl. Jess is a very loving dog, who just adores her walks and being with her family. Jess gets on well with strangers as she just blanks them!! Even John the very friendly postman is totally ignored!! Jess just turns round so she is unable to see the stranger and looks out to the horizon - never known that in a lab before. Anyway Jess wanted to say a few words herself. When I have more time will post something about the difference we have found on adopting a more mature lab. Anyway here is Jess.

Well hello all. It seems I am staying with Mr Gorgeous and my new fussers. Actually it is not too bad, I would go as far to say quite lovely. I have my own room with special eating place and ensuite garden. Is has taken a bit of getting used to being here with all these new people, especially when the do not understand my routine, but they are learning to adapt.

The downside is that whilst Mr Gorgeous is Gorgeous - he is also soooooooooooooooooooo strict about my food. I sit in the kitchen waiting for a scrap or ten - not even a small olive finds its way to my eager lips :( . I have diet food! Even the treat I get is a 'light one'. We had a visit to the vet - oh the indignity of it all! Anyway they were nice there and said I was in good shape - a little heavy and I had to watch one of my back legs. Then just as I thought I was escaping I had my nails clipped. I will be x-rayed next week - what ever that is

A great thing is that I do get a lot of walks, especially with Mr G (as I like to call him).

We walk and see lots of other dogs :grommit: and I have a great time

As well as my own room I have a garden where I love to lie down and think about all that is happening

Last week we went on a fab walk to Attingham Park and I found a stream and a bog to play in. Mr G was not so smiley when he found me, as he said I stank to high heaven :angel4: :angel4: Well I must say I think high heaven should be bottled and sold for Christmas! :compress: Then when we got home

I then smelt like peppermints - and I am not allowed those either! I was all fluffy when I had been dried off.

We do lots of trips and we visitied Granny and Mr G was all dressed for the occassion - he was not sure about the gloves, but they tasted fine to me

I like living here and we are all getting used to each other. I caused great joy today in Pet City when I had lost 900g Mr G was so happy.

Anyway I must go - got some sleeping to do and if I am quiet I can slip onto the sofa, that is until old moany pants 'G' comes in.

Will keep you updated on the weight loss and look forward to seeing Glenys, Kathyrn and Sam when we call in soon
BYe for now

It sounds as though much fun is being had by all. I love Jess's coat, it looks like velvet.

  Very good Jess you are great with words, I think you deserve a little treat for losing all that weight I am sure Mr G will allow a little bite of something tasty just for once :) If he doesn't allow that then I think you truly deserve the sofa forever, life is too short to be laying on the floor. We have found that it is best to lay on the floor during the daylight hours and then when 'they' off to bed we have a sofa each until the maid gets up and takes us out for our walk and prepares our breakfast, they are none the wiser :queen:

Look forward to hearing from you soon Jess

Very funny Jess  I am a little concerned that you started off calling your new Dad Mr Gorgeous and in a very short time he is old moany pants `G`. You sure have settled in there.

The gloves were a total essential as it was sub zero in my ma's garden and that was all I could find! Defo a case of warmth over style  Jess liked putting her nose in them when I took them off.

Lovely to see how happy she looks already after her "lost soul" look when she first arrived! I think the colour of the bath water is an indicator of how much fun she had that walk
