My mum's ultimate goal!!!!

This morning (with the help of some water!), I ignored a cat who got very, very close and a dead badger on the side of the lane which was very interesting indeed and I don't know why mum wouldn't let me go near it. After the water reminder, I walked past the badger five times to make sure that I knew to ignore it. Mum says she is happy with every little bit of progress. The training includes something called passive dominance which means that in the house Mum has to make sure that I only go through doorways if she says I can, if the doorbell rings I have to sit and stay and even with the doors open and the visitors in full view I can only say hello to them if Mum says "okay". I don't mind because every time I do what Mum says I get a big pat and a "good boy" and I do like to hear Mum say that. She sometimes tickles my ears too if I have been particularly good and that makes me go all woozy and squirmy as she knows just the spot to tickle.

Buddie what are you like! Eating an oven glove indeed.

Balee, you really should try to be good for your mum. We all know that you aren't deaf really.

Maisie, I wish you were closer too as I would love to play.

Sam, my mum has emailed your mum.

Carol and Kathryn, you wouldn't recognise the new me! The strange thing is that I am now much happier as I have been taught rules that mean I enjoy my walks instead of becoming almost hysterical and over-excited and it is much more comfortable to walk by Mum's side instead of pulling ahead. Mum is trying her best to make me calm on walks but doesn't mind me being myself when I'm off the lead and she lets me run wild in the field for a little time every day which is great fun. I found a putrid bit of a fox's head in the field the other day which was lovely. Mum didn't think so though and told me to drop it. She gave me a biscuit instead but that was nowhere near as smelly or interesting.

Everyone else, thank you for reading my update and I will let you know when I am walking perfectly on the lead. I do hope to be trained enough to be able to come to the fun day as it would be good to meet you all.

Bob

:1951: I think I've cracked it! I know what Mum wants me to do now. :1951:

Yesterday evening we went out for a calming walk before my human sister joined us for the walk to the bus stop. (I'm always very excited when she is with us). We met a black dog that looked like me so I got a bit of water and a few "Bahs" as I got a bit excited but I was calm by the time my human sister joined us. We walked up the road and met two dogs that looked like me but with long hair and a little white dog and they were barking like mad, straining on their leads and generally making quite a lot of fuss. Mum said "Bah" to me quite quietly so I just said "Oooh" quietly but kept on walking nicely by her side. Human sister said something like "That was a miracle" Mum was tickling my head and telling me what a good boy I was then we saw a cat while we were waiting to see human sister safely onto the bus and....... I ignored it. Mum was beside herself with happiness, human sister kept stroking me and I was thinking "I AM a good boy". So now I know. It was simple really but I just got too excited before and didn't know what Mum wanted. Now I know so I'll try to be good all the time. Can't promise anything but I really will try and who knows, I may yet make it to the fun day!
Sorry to bore you with this but I just needed to let you all know because it is a huge step for me.
Love Bob

Good boy, Bob. You're coming on in leaps and bounds. Also clever mummy, Jackie, to persevere with Bob so that he becomes the dog you want him to be! :1945: :1954: :1954:
